UPDATE: 3rd annual whats left on my want list swap

Hi girls I have been working almost nonstop getting the seeds done and ready to go out I have most of them ready. I have a few as always I have to go thru my private stock to put some more unusual things in for them so they won't get a lot of common since they sent so many seeds and not as many sent for them . Now remember some of you will get some of the more common things I can't keep all of the common for myself and some people who sent say 30 packs of seeds and had maybe 80 packs sent for them will not get 80 packs back so some of you will get seeds earmarked for someone else.I should be mailing tomorrow.I will post then.

OK girls most of them are on their way Susie and Louise I still have yours have to add more from my private stock I was in the post office for an hour while I filled out confirmation slips and the postal lady processed the envies!I heard them talking about the one lady was retiring after today when I got in line she called me over I said don't know if you want to take me on your last day she was very nice. Any of you who sent extra stamps for confirmation if you want the number e-mail me. Sue and Louise I will get yours out tomorrow.

Ooooh now I'm really getting excited. Knowing they are on their way just makes it worse LOL :) Maybe I'll get lucky and they will get here Saturday (wishful thinking I'm sure). Our temps are supposed to be nearly 70 on Sunday and I would LOVE to be able to winter sow that day. I'm going to anyway with seeds I already picked out. Boy my backyard is going to look like a sea of plastic bottles.

My total packet bet is 7979.43 by the law of average, should be right on the button. Now while we wait can we talk about my poor pumpkin seeds that were so fresh when I sent them, I mean I was still turning them every hour in the sun coming thru my french doors,before bagging them. Anyway, today, to my horror, the Musque de Provence seeds were moldy green!!!!I did not figure tha tthe time from when I packed them and the time we will get our seeds back would be enough to mold them, as I din't want to treat them with chemicals or bleach but maybe I should have!!! Looked on line for answers , someone mentioned rinsing the seeds in hydrogen peroxide before drying them. I panicked and use what was close at hand , put some bleach in water and filled the little baggie with it and slooshed them around until they cleaned up a bit, then i rinsed them further with my fingers, and planted them in a peat pot to see about germination. I don't know what to tell you. It's really sad to loose these, they were beautiful pumpkins, of the brightest orange flesh. If they are really lost then I will have to make sure mine grows and distribute the seeds again thru another swap.I am so sorry about that, thought i was doing the seeds a favor by not using bleach or other chemicals...and look what happened. Got 'em! I am absolutely delighted with the seeds I received this year-things I had on my list that I was sure no one would have to share were in that envelope. I have gone through them twice and will go back through them again after dinner. I am so happy to have all of the lovely peach colored flowers folks sent me. I have visions of a peach and blue garden and it is really coming together now. I also loved receiving all of the various Sweet Peas. I usually just grow a couple of varieties, but this year I will have them everywhere! I love it! Thanks to everyone who sent in their precious seeds! And Miss Patty, you did an incredible job! Hi, everyone! Mmmm, apple cider doghnuts. I've only had those once, and we ate the whole bag within 15 minutes of leaving the orchard. They're scrumptious! Ollierose, I try to know the botanical names for the plants I grow, (or at least list them with it) so I only look up botanical names that seem really familiar, because those may be seeds I can send in and I'm just not making the right mental connection. If I don't recognize it at all, it's not something I can send in. If you want to look things up, the fastest way I've found is 1. have the google toolbar 2. type the Latin and the word plantfiles 3. read all about it. That's also my first step in deciding if I want a plant, but I always look them up on a few sites, because they all have inaccuracies sometimes. I like to increase my chances for trades by making it easy for the trader to know that I have what they want, or they have what I want, by using both common names and latin. Except I'm sure I've neglected to do that completely :) It's another cold, grey day, and I have so much garden cleanup to do, still perennials to get in the ground, plus a couple hundred bulbs--but all I want to do is sit in front of the woodstove with my tiny kitten!

My seeds went in the mail today! I really wanted to get them out earlier, but it's only because I started early that I managed to get so many out just in time! I started working on packing the seeds a couple of weeks ago, which is good because it's hard to ignore a pathetic, come-play-with-me kitten for very long! I would stand at a table and pack seeds until she started climbing up my leg, then give up. I'd hoped to finish up Monday and mail on Tuesday, and I've learned that it's always good to aim for a day earlier than the real deadline. I ended up finishing up packing yesterday and mailing today. I had made a document with each player's name and gone through all the lists and copied and pasted what I planned to send. Then I alphabetized the list, printed it, and used that so I could make up the right number of packets of a seed, and keep track. Later I would look at the list of who was getting what and make up the individual packets. Yesterday was the day I started to sort everyone's seeds (which takes forever, so I really should have started that before) and guess what else happened yesterday? My laptop's mother board died! With no little sounds or weird warning signs, I just suddenly had no display. (I wasted a bit of time on the phone with Dell finding out what the problem was. I'd hoped it was "just" the screen and I could just hook the laptop up to a big monitor--no such luck!) But I have this ancient frankenstein desktop that is my backup computer, so I was going to be fine. But wait--that list of what I planned to send to whom--I never backed it up, I can't get it, it's stuck on the dead computer! Angela's list to the rescue! I used the desktop computer (and immediately wrote out Patty's address before something else went wrong) and used the search function to see who was asking for all the seeds I'd packaged up. It was a little tedious when looking for a particular type of salvia, since I had to scan through all the salvias, but for the most part each search was really fast. I got everything packaged up, used the computer to print out my postage, went off to the PO to buy stamps and get it officially sent off. I came home and wanted to email Patty the DC, but the computer had locked up. I restarted it, and...it was dead. "Unmountable boot volume." Dell says this means the hard drive died. So in 24 hours, my 2 computers have died! (and yet my mom has allowed me to touch her computer...) Thank goodness the darn thing stayed alive long enough for me to use Angela's list and get the seeds sorted without dragging everything to my mom's house! I don't live my life like my computer is about to die, and I guess I should! I do back things up, but not every day or even every week. I've been thinking that maybe I could have a memory stick in the USB port, and get some software that will back up anything added to the computer that day. When the drive is full, I'll burn a CD of it. Does anyone do something like that, and what do you use? For the next big swap, I think I'll print out a lot more stuff instead of just keeping it on the computer!

Patty, I think the timing for this swap was great: we got the seeds in before xmas, and just when that 12th day of xmas is coming up, and the winter is really setting in, we get a big present of seeds!

Hi Patty and Fellow Gardeners,

I got my package yesterday...very fragrant. I can't figure out what it is! I appreciate everything...everyone worked so hard, and it makes us all feel special that things are chosen just for us. Needless to say, I'm ready to plant. I loved the poppies, zinnias, salvias, irises, lilies, and there was a really cute packet of 'Fun Seeds' that just made me laugh out loud. Thanks so much, everyone! And sign me up again for next year. : )

Hello everyone. My seeds arrived yesterday. I am ecstatic about all the neat seeds that I received. Even the packaging is cool. Thanks so much everyone for the great seeds. I can't wait for spring. And I am sure that when these flowers bloom I will think of the wonderful people here on GW. Also a special thanks to Patty for the great job she did. AHHH! My package isn't here yet -- it left the Lexington, KY hub at 5 am on Saturday though, but didn't arrive yet. I have to wait until Monday (hopefully only that long).

In the meantime, I'm sowing other things to get ahead on my "sow list" and make room in my seed box for the new arrivals!

It's great that we can have extended joy "watching" everyone, before and after us, get their packages. I'm giggling for you all above!

My package got here today!!! Yipee!!! It felt like Christmas! or maybe like my birthday! Oh it was just great. What a wonderful, Generous bunch of people you all are. I received a lovely envelope stuffed with the most wonderful seeds today. I have felt so guilty having to drop out of this swap at the last minute. I'm wanting to feel even more guilt now, but I know you didn't send these to make me feel bad, so I'm fighting it. :-) You have given me a gift worth more than seeds, thank you. Got home from work and my huge overstuffed envy was waiting for me. Thanks to Patty and to everyone who participated, the seeds are wonderful. I received some of my wants, new varieties to try and some of my all time favs I like to start each year. Off now to research some of the new varieties that I haven't had the pleasure to grow yet!!!

Oh the joy!! I had a very challenging day at work today, and it is such a thrill to see all this generosity stuffed into my mailbox. Thank you, every single one of you, for all these wonderful seeds. It's just amazing to have all of these wanted things, and a couple surprises I don't even know what they are yet. Love the mysteries just as much!

(Almost think I should go roll in all these or something - lol!)

Hi girls I am glad you are happy I really tried to do a good job that is my favorite part of the swap happy gardeners.
Threas I used the confirmation number to check on the package
check it out it was in Philadelphia for 2 days now back to the original post office that is weird here is the confirmation number if you want to check then call and complain if they ask there is no way any postage is owed they weighed it themselves
the number is 0307 0020 0003 1850 4225 I am happy I got confirmation on yours I think you should have had it by now we are in the same state! What are they doing with that package?

This is crazy! Am I reading this right? Threas' seeds went from Patty's house to Philly then to Threas' PO and then back to Philly?

I was getting worried, too--like someone DID decide the postage was wrong, or something. I wonder what was going on?

Hello forum! I am writing to thank you all so much. I came from vacation to find so many goodies waiting for me. I started my winter sowing this weekend and sure enough, i did not have enough pots for all my seeds. Special thanks to Agirlsgirl for inviting me and Patty for all the hard work that must have been.
