bad experience with reimer seeds
Comments (3)I've had some bad experience with what they put in the seed packages. Last year, what was labeled Romanesco broccoli was an ordinary broccoli with very small heads and very large flower buds and the seeds labeled Black Diamond watermelon had another watermelon with pink flesh and striped rind. Packages labeled Rosita eggpland yielded ordinary, smallish black-skinned eggplant two years in a row. I don't think seed labeling problem is limited to this particular company, but frequency of mislabeled seed makes me think their quality control isn't working very well. I've worked for a seed company at one time and seed mix-ups can usually be traced to poorly paid, poorly managed and non-caring workforce. I wonder what the management is doing about that....See Moreshady chili seeds off Ebay and Reimer Seeds...
Comments (3)Any time you get money involved you should buy from a trusted source. ...and some people get upset about all these "government laws" that apply to seed sellers. It's to prevent stuff like this, which anyone who's been on GW long enough can tell you it happens way too much. The enforcement is lax enough that Ebay markets exist...probably because the public at large would jump on it as yet another "government keeping grandma from doing something" garden thing. ...as far as Reimer's seed-buying-from-anyone-screw-age-or-purity thing goes...I have no idea how they haven't ticked off the "wrong customer" yet. The thing that weirds me out is some of these Ebay seed dealers charge more than commercial sites...go figure....See MoreWhy I'll Never Buy From ARE Again
Comments (16)My two cents: Please consider giving them another chance. I did get a mislabeled rose from them once, but have continued to order from them without any further problems. Of course, I did get a healthy rose even though it wasn't the one I ordered. If they were dying, that might be another problem. However, I tend not to plant anything into the ground unless the roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot--or close to it. That might be something you may want to consider in the future. I think it's important to have patience and forgiveness with a company that's good overall. (You may never have another problem with them again.) Also, as others have pointed out, the number of places that sell old roses (and willing to do mail order) is shrinking. And let's face it: you can't find these roses at Walmart....See Morepaid iris order from Breck'sBulbs never received
Comments (3)I placed an order in March with "Spring Garden" (which is what they are calling themselves now) for some spring flowers and bulbs. Their prices are expensive but with their $35.00 off coupon I thought it would be worthwhile. In April I sent an e-mail asking when my order was shipping, no response, In May. same story. however I noticed my credit card had been charged.I waited for weeks and no plants or bulbs ( again, these were spring plants that needed to be planted in the spring), I e-mailed and called and there was no response, the phone line was either busy or the mailbox was full. I saw on a number of sites a number of posts from people who had their CC charged and a couple of years later had their order delivered (I cannot imagine waiting that long) I finally had no choice but to call my CC Provider and have the charges reversed. I still have not received even the courtesy of a call to say oops or anything. This company advertises that it has been in business since 1912 but with this kind of customer service I can't see them lasting another 97 years...See Morepepperhead212
