I just love Abe, I bought 3 of them in memory of my late father-in law who shared the name of Abraham. I planted them in my memory garden along a chainlink fence with a 'L.D.Braithwaite' and a 'Dark Lady' in between. I normally cut 3-5 rather large bouquets a week for my various girls and I love what the 'Darby's' add both in fragrance and contrast. Thanks for sharing.

Abe was my first rose - wow - the smell and the beauty. Killer combination. Now that I'm doing my roses in pots, I would like to try it again. Thanks for reminding me of its beauty.
I'm definitely not a true rosarian but during my own little personal garden makeover, I'd get to a spot and always ask myself when I'd be enjoying the spot. It never failed that the answer was late summer and nothing seems to provide late summer color better than roses and dahlias. I ended up with over 50 roses. In season, I cut around 6 very large bouquets a week to share with some very sweet ladies at the retirement center where my MIL lives. I took her one yesterday that was all roses, nearly every color in the rainbow. Half a dozen 'Abraham Darby', 3 'The Dark Lady', 3 'Betty Boop', 2 'Tamora', 2 'Gertrude Jekyl', 2 'Scent From Above', 3 'Joseph's Coat', 2 'America', 2 'Easy Going', 4 'Stairway to Heaven, and 4 'Midnight Blue'. She is the widow of Abraham and the look on her face was priceless :-)
Here's another pic of AD.....

boxofrox----That is a gorgeous picture of AD----Your bouquet sounds lovely-----When my mother was in a retirement home I used to take her bouquets also---they always made a big hit I can just imagine how happy your MIL was especially to have a rose with the same name as her late DH I'm not a true rosarian either---LOL just put roses in wherever there is some dirt--now I have a jungle.LOL
I used to have such a black thumb so when I decided to get real with the re-do I did a bit of homework prior to my 7 year sentence to hard labor. The bouquets, to me at least, are kind of like my proof that my thumb has been rehabilitated :-) When all the roses, dahlias, and hydrangeous are all blooming, I have to pinch myself and it's like Steven Irkle asking "Did I do that?"

boxofrox---your picture of Abe and Hansa reminded me of this picture I have of Abe snuggling up to KO----I guess "ole Abe" is a lover---LOL --- BTW please translate the code in your Summer Bouquet post.I can't figure it out {{gwi:315095}}
By code, do you mean html ? I just started posting full size pics instead of the link style small ones. The pics come through on my post preview so I just assumed I was doing it right. Here's the small one...
