Unless she really, really wants a very double flower, I'd recommend Captain Samuel Holland. It doesn't have the thorns that Quadra does, won't get more than 15 ft tall, won't get out of hand, given water will have almost continuous bloom, and can handle most anything the climate can throw at it. From your list, the only negatives are that it does not set hips, so doesn't need deadheading, and it isn't particularly interesting during the winter. I believe it is from the same hip as Quadra. There is another rose from the same cross, Felix LeClerc, that hasn't been out very long that should be worth looking at. Captain Samuel Holland was a Tory surveyor who went to the Maritimes during the American Revolution.

I recommend that you listen to michaelg. When your roses get large and you don't have the time to do all that cutting, you can learn to snap off spent bloom at the abscission layer. It makes absolutely no difference whether you cut at an angle or cut to an outside facing bud. In fact, you may slow rebloom by doing so on some cultivars. Don't believe me. Look at my garden and judge for yourself. I've been doing this for years. Your precious time is better spent watering, weeding, and mulching. Exceptions are long, tall, narrow Hybrid Tea-types that grow 30 inch stems, roses you're planted in the wrong space that are too large for the area...and roses I never deadhead at all because they rebloom no matter what. Colette is very good at resisting BS here where we do get lots. She's gorgeous, but she's not a bright rose in my sun (I like that where I have her). I can't think of non-fading climbers I have whose canes are flexible except her. Maybe Cl Caroline Testout, but mine's too young to know if her canes are normally as pliable as my young one's are. They got much taller already, but I have yet to see whether big, tough basal breaks are in the future :D Jasmina is one I have who is pliable and nice, but is she too short for your tastes? She may fade too much for you, but she does it so charmingly! It makes her a multi-color in mauves and pinks.

You can just tie them in horizontally for mor roses or cut them back if you have too many canes for the space. Usually I let mine grow and bloom before cutting them back (which will push additional laterals.) This is how some climbers such as New Dawn get so large. Id love to see pics of Amadeus!
