Dumb Mum Question

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been absent for so long - and so sorry I missed the Spring Swap. But it was probably for the best, as I've been so dreadfully behind in all my garden projects that the last thing I needed was more plants (and I KNOW I would have come home with more plants).

But I'm catching up now... although I have a lot of flower seeds I bought to direct sow, which I never got around to. So saving those for next year.

But on to the subject of this post... I was thinking that I was supposed to start pinching my mums back starting in July. But one of them already has buds on it (and now that I look at the tag it says start pinching back when they are 3" tall up through July). So, I would assume I don't want to pinch back the buds, right? I'll just have blooms in mid summer.

That's one of the mums - a more traditional single upright plant. I have some Sheffield mums that seem to be spreading. They are much lower growing. Should I pinch those back as well?

Thanks!

Alice
