The iris labeled Best Bet might be something else. Maybe Edith Wolford. The standards look yellow on my monitor. Best Bet has pale lav-blue standards.

Harry is right about the tree attempting to fruit indoors. I live in NY and I can only keep my fruits outdoors from March or April to end of October sometimes sooner. Even if all you have is a few warm months you will be amazed at what the tree will do(or should i say grow!). There are several "condo" varieties to choose from. I chose mine after doing research but even then I ended up finding out that one of my selesctions should not have been put into this category, the Lancetilla. This is quite a tall tree, as Harry has shown me. I am going to work on my blog and post my trees. I hope you look at this and see how I have been able to keep trees going. Andrew

Hi Jayane-- We did have fun that day. We were at the Renaissance faire in Waxahatchie, TX for a friend's wedding and everyone dressed up for it. I made my and Jeff's costumes, my daughters made theirs together. Rachel, in the burgundy did the sewing, and Amy did the hand embroidery, which you can't really see unfortunately. The highlight of the day for the girls was when the faire royalty were walking through and the queen complimented them on their dresses.

VF is always almost perfect in opening and perfect blooms. Mantis is correct in that it blooms on shorter scapes. Mine is usually just above the foliage. And the blooms are very large so it seems well out of perspective. But it is gorgeous. And up until this year was a late bloomer so was quite welcome no matter the height. Mineral Springs has been slow to multiply. Hopefully, it will improve. Kate

Thanks Peachiekean! Iris Gal, I think you're right, I think that iris is not Best Bet after all, the standards are supposed to be white, but they do look yellowish. The beards were supposed to be bright tangerine, but it doesn't quite look like the catalog photo and I'm not remembering its name. Best Bet is somewhere in the garden, but did not bloom this year I guess. Edith Wolford is next to Berries and Cream and its standards are really yellow. I got the Drama Queen Poppy from Annie's Annuals catalog. They're great! Thanks again!
