What Would You Do?

Alright, I got a late start on some peppers this year. They were started from seed on June 28th.

I had planned on repotting them before Labor Day, but got too busy, then hurricane Ike hit.

Some of my plants have peppers already, the purple serrano and the purple jalapeÃ±o. My Biker Billys have many buds as well. I also have some ornamental Chilly Chili's that have peppers.

My question is, do I need to go ahead and repot now, or wait till these peppers are grown?

Will this stress the plant out too much and drop the peppers early, or am I doing more damage by leaving them in the cups?

The two Chilly Chilis are on the left, then the purple jalapeÃ±o, Jaxon my cat, then the purple serrano is on the right:

Cat looks like it could use some fertilizer.It looks kinda run down,tired.
Maybe a shot of catnip.

I'd transplant them.
Better to risk loosing a couple pods than have your plants get rootbound.
A lot of times,depending on how much you mess up the roots,your plant might not do anything but grow after transplanting.
I've transplanted small plants with buds or pods on them and the soil stayed in one piece so the roots didn't get disturbed at all.
In a few days the plants went crazy with growth.
I'd let it have some room for it to wiggle it's toes a bit.

Agreed. Transplant. Shouldn't harm the pods at all if you're gentle. Gorgeous plants for the container size.

Have you had the purple serranos yet? How are they? I would be interested in trading seeds.

After seeing your latest pics, ans re-reading your OP - I would say the following: 1. You PURCHASED the piece of stone for the Island - it was your property 2. THEY suggested that you wait on the island 2 1/2 years ago, and on THEIR insistance - took responsibility for the piece (still YOUR property) 3. What they are trying to give you as the island made from "your piece" (if the small sample in the pics is what the stone SHOULD look like...) does NOT match with the sample. Based on these three criteria - I would say you have a case, and that your Fabricator now has the responsibility to "deliver" - if he can't to your satisfaction, you'll need to work out fair compensation for loss and de-fault of contract. Hopefully it won't go there - I'm hoping that your guy will make things right and give you what you feel is acceptable... TO YOU !!!! I would hope that your Fabricator can find a stone with waaay more of a match to the sample, and then everyone wins. My guess is - they lost track of your "piece" AND either broke it or fabbed it (the original) for something else, or they just lost track of it and it's still there - burried in their scrap pile.... I work with shops all over the world in my business, and I cant tell you how many other fabricators are in this general group....... EVERYBODY makes mistakes now and then !!! LOL - But..... you gotta hols your guy's feet to the fire and have him fab up an island that YOU will be happy with. What to do on this 8ft slider..what would you do???

I have an 8 foot slider just like this, facing the west. I have a pole rod with fabric panels at both ends and heavily-textured semi sheers in the middle. The rods extend just a bit beyond the doors on the sides so I can push everything out of the way if I want, or pull them all closed in the afternoon to shut out the sun.

On the plus side, your present layout of kitchen appliances is in a good working order (fridge, sink, prep space range) so you may be able to save $ by not moving any of those items or not moving them much. While I don't mind the older cabinets (I have an older, vintage style myself), there are not that many of them, and it may be within your budget to replace them. Without measurements, my thought would be a peninsula off the wall between the windows to increase counter space or possibly a small, movable island. I have the small island but it just fits and your space looks a tad smaller. There might not be room for a peninsula - why measurements would be helpful. You are correct that the style clash is not helping:) Realistically, a table that is the only eating area and part of the kitchen will probably need to be less formally dressed. If a peninsula wide enough to hold a couple of eating spaces fits, smaller meals and snacks could happen there, and then the dining table can be a bit formal. I think if you change out the cabinets, counters and backsplash to a less country style, you and your husband can find a style that is a better mix of your taste. If this was my space I would also consider at some point putting the same flooring throughout - for me that would be an ordinary solid hardwood.

For the heavily wooded rural property where my sister and I live: Add 2nd bath and 3rd bedroom to our cabin (for small art studio & guest space) Complete interior walls and floors (sheetrock, paint, porcelain floor tile) Add mini-split cooling/heating system to replace window units and augment wood stove Build shelves and cabinets in living room and bedrooms Build dining banquette and table into dining nook Upgrade and paint exterior siding and build covered deck to surround all 4 sides of cabin to provide covered parking and protected walkways to and from living space Build combination greenhouse/potting shed Fence and landscape property...including well and pond with rock scape and waterfall Build small barn to house goats and ponies for grandchildren, nieces, and nephews Improve road and driveway for eased access to property

HabBob: Thanks, I have ALOT more outside, just brought those four in to take the pic. I have not tried the purple serranos yet, but I can't wait! No problem on the trading seeds, I will let you know when they are ready.

I have Biker Billys, purple serranos, purple jalapeÃ±o, Mucho nacho jalapeÃ±o , habs, bhut jolokia(that has flowers on it), pequins, serrano, and a few ornamentals (NuMex twilight, medusa,and chilly chili).

I have decided to use the grow bags for the new plants, and still undecided on which soil to use.

Any suggestions?

I will get these repotted this week! Thanks for all the help!

I absolutely agree with Smokemaster and Habbob... You won't get anything worthy if you let them on such small cups... And being from Houston, you have plenty of time yet.... I wish I'd have your climate ! :)
I'd like to trade seeds with you also... I love purple and ornamental peppers... When you're ready will you let me know ?
