Full StoryI ran across a picture in a 1958 book of what is labeled the 'Capt. Robinson rose.' I can't find any references to it, but since I grow rugosas (which I am assuming this is - correct me if I'm wrong), I'd like to have one of these.
The photo was next to a picture of Capt. Charles H. Robinson, Civil War hero, naturalist, and member of the Prairie Club. I assume it was named after him, but by whom? I also assume it was growing somewhere in the Indiana Dunes area where Robinson often explored. As far as I know, Robinson did not hybridize or grow roses.
Does anyone know this rose, if it's been re-named, or better yet, where can I get one?
TIA
Apologies for the poor quality of the photo. The book was one of those "off-set" xerox-y things.
