Capsaicin tolerance

We've been eating ghost peppers for the last couple of weeks in different forms, raw, in spaghetti sauce, salsa etc.

We were out of ripe ghosts and decided to try regular hot sauces as a condiment today, and to our surprise, we found Frank's extra hot and Tobasco sauce totally without heat. Even the extra hot scotch bonnet sauce barely had any heat. I guess we are now officially chili heads. I guess this means we are now stuck using the super hots to get any heat any more. Anyone else notice this effect, and does it wear off over time?
