New fig tree and some leaf deformation
Comments (6)gene and Martin; Those deformed leaves won't bother me at all, I will leave them alone. I don't want to put too much stress on the tree. Would it help to reduce the symptoms of FMV with spraying the leaves with half strength liquid fertilizer like FolliagePro Gro ( 9-3-6) and also fertilizing it with the same fertilizer along with Dyano Grow 0-0-3? I read somewhere the spraying, does help the infected fig trees. What do all think? Navid...See MoreAnyone else struggle with watermelon peperomia - leaf deformity?
Comments (7)Ca is a critical component of new cell formation, and because it's not mobile in plant tissues, it MUST be present in the nutrient stream at all times. If it isn't adequately represented in the nutrient stream, it's very common for the deficiency to show up in distal tissues, like leaf tips or the blossom end of peppers, tomatoes, ......... You can fix the deficiency by using the Cal/Mag or by switching to Foliage-Pro 9-3-6 fertilizer, which has Ca and Mg in a favorable ratio to all other nutrients, and it has all the essential nutrients plants normally assimilate from the soil. It also has the added advantage of deriving its N primarily from nitrate sources, rather than the urea that MG uses to supply N. The advantage in nitrate N is a fuller, more compact plant with a finer texture - shorter internodes, and smaller leaves, which goes a long way toward countering the leggy appearance caused by low light levels. Best luck. Al...See MoreWhat is this?? (Very deformed leaves)
Comments (8)The million dollar question: Have you or someone in the area been using Roundup? This is classic Roundup damage. Way back when, I asked a very respected rosarian from the Tropical Rose society what it was and what I could do about it. She had me think back on what I had done and sure enough I traced the damage back to an attempt to kill off grass in my rose beds. She said it would be terminal and was eventually correct. I HAVE made the same mistake since and have had an average 80% mortality. If the plant is well established it stands a better chance of survival. My advice: water thoroughly, do not fertilize, and do not cut back. The roses that I've had that survived took about a year to grow out of the funk but stayed alive via the tiny leaves....See MoreMarble queen pothos leaf deformation
