can you help? not having success with these

I've been trying to propagate the following without any success:

Calycanthus 'Venus'- no success

Nandina domestica - no success

Berberis 'Rose Glow' and other cultivars - very poor

Ceanothus 'Victoria'- very poor

I do all my propagation, usually softwood cuttings, in large trays 14"x28" with plastic domes in a mixture of 1/2 sunshine mix and 1/2 perlite with a small(bottom hole sealed) earthenware pot in the centre as a water reservoir. Success for most cuttings is 90-100% except for the above. I usually do cuttings during July, Aug and Sept and then put them on bottom heat when the greenhouse goes below 10'C (50F). But for some reason the plants listed above just won't put out roots for me. Should I be taking these as heal cuttings or maybe as hardwood cuttings, do they want bottom

heat? I'd really appreciate some detailed info from anyone who has a high rate of success with these. Many thanks!!
