Water propagation ( what am I doing wrong?)

Hi all,

I remember reading Rosco's post about propagating plants in a water solution.

I got a 3 gal bucket, air pump & stone, put water in it, floated some styrofoam, and put in some cuttings, 2 jasmins (night & confedirate) a couple of basil leafs and a gardenia stem. All where about 2 " long.

I had read somewhere that weak fertilizer would help so I added about a teaspoon of colorbright.

For a little while it was looking promessing. Everything is decomposing.

I have been keeping them in a dark area.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
