Aucuba cuttings for swap meet

I'm going to a garden swap in a couple of weeks. I'm new to gardening, so don't have a lot to trade, but would like to bring some aucuba cuttings with me. My question: what's the best way to prepare them so that the recipient doesn't end up with a dead plant? My neighbor apparently takes cuttings of the stuff and sticks it right into the ground, and it seems to work for him. Could I just bring some fresh-cut cuttings to the swap and instruct folks to bury it asap?
