Please help my sick pepper plants! pics

This is the first time I've seen any type of disease on my pepper plants and they are going down fast! I did have an issue with a fungal disease on my tomatoes and this looks like the same thing. Do peppers get some type of fungal leaf spot?? Should I treat them with the same fungicide and if so, will it save them?

I am not too concerned with an organic argument here - if Daconil will save them, I am fine with it!

I had this same thing happen on a Pimento Pepper plant. The nursery gave me some for free...now I know why. lol. I tore it out of the ground. I didn't want to risk 100s of other healthy plants.

Sorry I can't be of more help diagnosing it. I will be looking forward to others' input as well.

I see that occasionally too. Pulling off the affected leaves and providing shade does the job for me. You could isolate the plant with a simple tulle fabric tent. Easier than it sounds.

Thanks for all everyone's feedback, The only recent change I can think of is possibly less light since my daughter has been shutting the window blind due to monitor glare the past couple months. It is probably small for it's age due in part to me ignoring it. It has been small, but healthy for most of its life. I hardly ever water it, but have watered it a couple times recently, since I read that the curling leaves might be caused by a lack of water. It seemed to perk up a bit for a few days after watering, but ultimately, more and more leaves keep curling up and browning. Very sad. Can I take a "cut" and save part for a later planting??? I'm just piggybacking on this one if you don't mind. I have a sick aloe vera, too. I wonder if it got too wet or too cool (or both). It's losing its color and getting limp. It was a baby off of my mom's humongous one that's now gone. My sister's is doing great. I saw some advice about checking the roots to see if they were OK (like nueva gardener did above) and haven't done that yet. I wanted to have the soil on hand first (cactus or African Violet soil was recommended -- it's been in sand for decades and that's what it's still in). Anyway -- my real question was with rooting in the perlite. Do you wet IT when you first start out? Thanks! Flo :-)

Yes you are catching on. The plant still need more sun, and less water, for insurance cut off a stem that is getting roots and plant it. You must realize these are winter growers and not summer growers, mine flower in December and start to grow after the flowers dry up, starting about January, they need air circulation, and cool air, they need soil that drains rapidly, they don't like living in an apartment with a heater going. They are east African plants, and are domant when it is very hot. I have 24 different, so have a little experence. Pirate Girl lives in New York she may have a lot to add to this. I can see that the leaf nodes are still far apart this tells me more sun is needed and less water. Don't treat like it is your pet. Don't water it from the top, water from the bottom, don't mist the plant. No peat moss in the mix, red wood med. size would do much better. I don't normally respond to 'Crassula Ovata' problems any more because it just gets out of hand. Good Luck I hope you will enjoy your plant and stops giving you all of this trouble. Hi Klein, Peppers and tomatoes belong to the same family. Your problem is very similar to "blossom end rot" that afflicts tomatoes. It is generally caused by a Calcium deficiency in your nutrient solution. A good hydroponic nutrient solution needs between 100 and 400 mg/L (same as ppm) of Calcium. It is rapidly spreading to all of my pepper plants!! Starts with the bottom leaves and works its way up. The weakest of the plants looks like it's not going to make it :(

I don't think pulling the leaves is good enough. Here's a pic of the only one that a decent pepper on it(there are tons of blossoms and some that have set but nothing large enough to see the effect).

The plants are not so far gone that they look like they're at death's door but I don't know how to save them. Thank you for your help in advance!

Then it is serious. Call your county cooperatuve extention service agent ASAP.

Hi it's happening here too and I have 142 plants!!!At first I thought that the blight from my tomatos was the culprit too,then it reminded me of the time I over fertilized.The leaf fall is horrendous.
I've come to the conclusion of not watering until necessary overwatering in this case too much RAIN,and poss blight they are both members of the niteshade family.I treated with copper first then a biological I guess wait and see is all we can do.EXPECT the plants to live but withe reduced output and hope for better next year.GL---Neil
