Just wanted to share some pics from our garden so far...

you can also see the potato patch in the aerial view, and while you can't really make it out there are tomatoes, onions, carrots, etc all over. There is an asparagus bed along the side of the garage and the one bed that is not in the pic is the shady perennial bed opposite of all the other beds.

cool! looks awesome! does your dog ever get himself in the peppers? lol, i have to keep my potted pepper high up or else my pups will eat them up!

That's awesome. Looks very nice.

I planted all my peppers in pots so those are for the most part pretty well off! My garden however is a complete mess. I mixed up the seedlings so I have a patch that is waaay over-crowded. I had noo idea that Cucumber plants were spreading like weeds. They have grabbed hold of peas and everything. Dang! In the other part I put radishes and Carrots (OMG, I'm an idiot!) (Note to self! Carrots and radished can take 2 inches apart. Don't do that with Cucumbers). And what compelled me to plant 3 onions, only 10 Carrots (that is not growing anyway) and frikkin 20 Cucumber plants. *sigh* Maybe I'll take a picture of mine next year!

Oh well, I was in a big hurry and only had about 45 minutes to plant everything back then. I own this place now, so I can plan it a "little better" next year.

I was there in August and surprised myself with all the photos I took of bark features. The gardens are celebrating their 150th anniversary next year. Those metasequoias were planted shortly after WW II, and are truly majestic. Nearby is a zelkova with wonderful fluted trunk taper. I noted a parrotia that was peeling and flaking, and several maples, not just paperbark, with beautiful bark. Guess i need to go back after leaf fall and take more pics. Truly a world class garden. brian

I know what you mean about staying away from the hosta forum when my hostas are still hiding. It usually just make me even more sad to see hostas up and about when I know mine are usually at least a month behind. I think I suffer from hosta depression during the winter;) Atlantis has been a very fast growing hosta for me. It's in the Abba Dabba family, which for the most part are fast growing. Jen

Hey, thanks guys! I am very lucky to have a pepper support group locally ;-) And I agree, sharing the adventure is a lot of fun. That's why I love coming here. naturalstuff- 1. I use a heavy annual rye cover crop with some hairy vetch if i find it cheap.Took about five years to choke out most weeds.The action hoe gets a workout as well...I actualy have more crabgrass now then weeds.. 2.I have a friend who is a mason and i collect cut-offs from concrete driveway jobs he does.He can also get the 150 foot roles 1/2 price. I believe i have 160 total and some are 15 years old.... 3.I water by hand.I add lots of compost to planting hole.I had .600 rain from july1st thru july28.I deep water tomatoes every 3 days in that type weather.Peppers every 5 days or when they stay drooped in evening 4. It is excalibur 9 tray model.No complaints and i have 2 running 24 hours a day this time of year. 5.The lot is 2 acres.Garden is 160 feet x 80 feet when full.

beau>>no the dogs don't mess with the peppers or anything. The raised beds are fenced off because they will trample anything in their path to a bunny, but no probs with chile eating...:)

Where do I get one of them $20.00 pepper plants? Is it pretty prolific?
Will you be trading seeds for those?

Wow! Good looking garden!

Have you always grown your peppers in pots? They do better than if they were in the ground? I am trying both this year to see which do better.

I think they do equally well either way. We use black 5 gallon nursery pots. The plants in the bed get bigger but as far as production goes, both ways do really well

Those are 5 gallon pots? That makes the peppers look even better knowing how big those pots are!
