I've ordered from and had good results from Tropical Gardens of Maui. (I've also been to their nursery on Maui). The plants arrived quickly and were in good condition.

I've also ordered from Kopoho Palms and Floribunda Palms ( http://www.floribundapalms.com/index.lasso ) on the Big Island of Hawaii. Both these places sent large plants that arrived in good condition. (They both have $100.00 minimum order requirements.)

Thanks for the info. and I will consider the other two mentioned, though I'm on a very tight budget and hence, trying to keep down the expenses. I'd have to admit though , that even those young palms I oedered over then years ago from a Florida Palm sepcialist, weren't cheap even then and I think I did pay a fair penny then. Adjusted for inflation I guess some may have cost over fifty dollars by todays standards, but I did lose two of them. One never knows when trying varieties not generally common in indoor settings if they'll adjust to the less than ideal indoor conditions, but I've had good luck in general. As mentioned , some do too well over time and always outgrow my house. I'd almost be tempted to buy a small Chinese fan palm locally and would divide the ones crowded into single containers, but my last, one once it got seven or eight years old had fronds over three feet across and spread a good ten feet from the trunk, so perhaps those aren't a wise choice for me to grow once again. I never even expected the Chamaedorea elegans to outgrow my home , but even they got higher than my ceilings would allow after 12 years or so.

I have ordered plants from TG of M several times. I even won their Guess the Plant contest for a blooming orchid ones a few years ago. Their plants have always been top quality for me. I also have ordered from Kapoho and Floribunda and both are extremely good.

Thanks yet for another endorsement. Recently looking at Jungle Music , which seems a bit on the expensive side to me, I see their "mailorder" minimum is $200, and that's terribly exorbitant I'd say, and no chance I'm most likely order from them in the near future!!

Jungle Music is a great place to find large size palms for those of us who live in southern CA and can drive there in our trucks and pick the palms up ourselves. Their prices are not cheap, but they have palms you'll find few other places in this area. They are not really the best mail order source.

I just placed an order with them. They were kind enough to call because they were out of something and gave me my choice of substitutes. They shipped promptly, and the shipping is two-day air, so it's really pretty reasonable, I thought. The plants were good-sized, very healthy looking and very carefully packed. The tropicals I ordered were actually bigger than the palms. But the palms were respectably-sized and very healthy. One of the orchids even had a bud spike on it, which I wasn't expecting. I would highly recommend them. I order from a lot of mail order sources and these folks are now in my top 5.

Thanks again for more "feedback" and though I have next to no room left for more plants, I still could "squeeze" in a few small palms.
