Hey, guys, my pleasure! At first, the cost of the Foliage Pro 9-3-6 might seem a little high, but when you are only using 1 teaspoon per gallon, and supplying ALL the micro-nutrients in one fell swoop, you begin to see its value. If there were another fertilizer that offered the same qualities, I would certainly let you know. Bruce, I use Foliage Pro all year....from seedlings to overwintering mature plants. For seedlings, I start with a 1/4 strength dose, then I gradually increase the dosage until I'm fertilizing at full strength. During the winter, I drop the strength back down to 1/4 strength. I actually use Foliage Pro for every single one of my plants - succulents, tropicals, conifers, maples, oaks, birch, citrus - any plant that I grow in a container. The only alteration I make is in the concentration of the dose. Succulents I fertilize very lightly, 1/8 or 1/4 strength, and I don't fertilize as often. But with Citrus, which are heavy feeders, I increase the dosage and fertilize weekly during the Summer. Studies have shown that *most* plants (not all) use nutrients very close to a 3:1:2 ratio. The main difference is in the amount of nutrients that are used....but the ratio doesn't really change. Josh

I'll hold off on the fertilizing. I've noticed that the soil has been pretty damp for a while now. I haven't watered since I transplanted these three days ago, so I'm wondering if the soil is retaining too much moisture. I was wondering if the pH was off, and was actually going to pick up a ph and moisture meter to check it out. I live in Washington just outside of Seattle. The water is a actually pretty good, but I was thinking about using either the filtered water from the fridge or some rain water the next time I remember to leave a bucket out. As for the tempurature, I'm keeping them between 77 and 80 degrees. The house stays about 70 and the cfl keeps the plants 7 to 10 degrees warmer. Here's the most recent picture. I moved one to work with me, so I'm down to 5 at home. They're getting bigger, but they're not growing as fast as my jalapeños. Maybe replace that Halogen with a CFL. THey can be put within an inch of the plant as they give off almost no heat unlike a Halogen. Removing the heat mat is a good idea as habjolokia said. Also, I dont know what kind of fertilizer you are referring to but if it is liquid, and you are dumping a straight 1/4 shot glass with watering, you may be way over fertilizing. The liquid I use is a 9-3-6 and it is supposed to be cut at the rate of 1 tsp per gallon of water. If yours is a similar ratio, you are probably way overdoing it. Just read the directions and follow them. You may also want to consider a fert with a bit different ratio. Yours is pretty low on the Nitrogen side and high on the Potassium side. That would be a fertilizer maybe better suited to a mature plant that is ready to or already putting out blooms and fruit. But my first guess is that the lighting is your major problem. Bruce

for one that soil looks super wet. if it always looks like that, I think we found your problem.
