Grow hot peppers next to poppies?

roseses

hi there,

I am new to gardening and have been enthusuatically planting whatever I fancied without too much thought. I have a tray full of hot pepper seedlings which need to go into a bed. And the best location I can think of has poppies in it. These are the Victoria Louise Oriental poppies - the pink ones with the brown centers.

Recently read about poppies that all parts of the plant are toxic. I was wondering if they spread the toxins into the soil and whether they could find their way into my hot peppers?

I am not super attached to these poppy plants and will happily transplant/ discard them but really don't know if that would be enough to make the soil safe for edible planting.

Anyone who can chime in would be appreciated
