I've had catalogs arrive before with chewed up covers too and it is annoying. I don't know if my SESE catalog arrived yesterday because I was too busy all day to check the mail and didn't get home from the last activity until after dark. By the time I remembered I hadn't stopped to check the mail, there was no way I was going to walk the 300' down to the mailbox after dark because we have too many wild beasts roaming around at night here.

I have downloaded their catalog on-line and love the cover.

Regarding Baker Creek, are you sure you ordered on the one and only day the 20% discount was available? If you did, I think you should complain and let them know they owe you that discount. There is a thread about the 20% discount over at Baker Creek's forums and it is almost a dozen pages long and full of complaints people had in dealing with the new shopping cart/PayPal/Google Checkout, etc. I didn't read all the posts, but read enough to know there were tons of issues with using the new cart to order on that day. Basically, the 20% off was everyone's reward for 'testing' the new system and I think everyone found lots of issues for the system administrator to fix.

I do love the SESE catalog. It gives wonderful cultural info, and often includes seed saving info such as isolation distances. With some of the less common veggies, it even offers cooking tips in the variety description.

I think they have grown so fast and making so many changes they have problems. I know when I ordered the site said ten percent off and I didn't receive any off. Also says one free pack of seeds and they weren't in the order. Not a big deal to me as everyone knows I don't need anymore. Would of probably sent them to Carol. LOL. But just shows that they maybe overwhelmed. And when you are sometimes you make mistakes. I blame the ten percent on something to do with the sight. As it should of calculated that when the I completed the order. But my order was small enough I didn't feel it was worth it. Jay

I did email them this morning but left myself an out without embarrassing myself (I hope). I allowed that maybe "I did something wrong". The point being I ordered on November 18 and that banner was at the top (I think). We will see.

Websites shouldn't make things so complicated that you miss some little detail. Or maybe I should say so seniors don't miss the details!

I do worry about their expansion and all the festivals and little villages (not really my cup of tea....I hate Silver Dollar City!) Bah, humbug.....and all that.

I didn't get the 10% off but did get the free seeds. I don't remember what the free seeds are, but I remember thinking that I'd just pass them on to someone else because either I didn't intend to plant that variety or I already had a lot of it from previous years.

I assumed that not getting the 10% off was a website glitch and I'm not going to make a big fuss about it either. They have had such explosive growth and there's always growing pains in those situations. I remember when I first ordered from them, they only had a few hundred varieties and now they have close to....about 1700 I think. They've always been really good about sending refunds for seeds they're out of, unlike some other folks.

Twenty percent is a lot, and I would make a fuss about that. I think you did order on the right day so you should have received the discount.

I worry they are expanding too much too soon and it shows sometimes in the way they are messing up orders. However, most companies mess up orders every now and then.

Glenda I wouldn't be embarrassed if something wasn't clear and you didn't get the discount. On-line stores should have things set up to be very clear. Sometimes if you don't click the right box you don't get the discount. I did that on shoes with a birthday discount and that was the only reason I ordered on-line. Naturalizer responded promptly to my complaint.

Yes Jay, you probably would have sent them to me.....and Dawn, What was your pack? LOL I fear that I am becoming a "seed collected" instead of a gardener.

I should be OK this year and by next year I should have my son and DIL hooked and I can go plant on their new land. I doubt that they have everything ready for this season. They should have plenty of water for irrigation also. All of the people in that rural area have gone onto rural water and the aquifer must be a little full. They are also on rural water but still have the well and pump and it needs to be pumped. I can think of a lot of things to plant on 20 plus acres of bottom land with an abundance of water, can't you?
