It's a spider web, and I would be grateful to have many of those in my plants..;-)

yes i know its a spider web but this spider web is killing the plant and it is spreading all over the plant. See the link for bigger picture

because you're in the UK, I suggest you call a local large garden center, or an agricultural agency, to ask some pointed questions as to what they are & how to manage.

If nothing else, remove it physically, then blast with water every several days to move the critters off the plants.

That is not a spider web. Spiders do not eat plants. While I have not seen a spider mite infestation bad enough to develop a web like that that might happen. Look for something other then spiders.

Looks more like fall webworm to me.

Taz, that is the coolest photograph. I searched out some more images of that same bicycle...totally freaky. Talk about an example of insects not behaving the way they are supposed to!

That is a "webworm" or "bagworm", a caterpillar that lives in groups and spins a protective web.

It feeds inside the web where birds van't get to it.

You can use a rake and rip open the webs and let the birds get the caterpillars.

On the bicycle, I suspect the critters that did that are psocids. I don't see any sign of the webworm caterpillars.

I seen them without that image. They are all over the fenders and center cross bar. I gave you all instructions on how to zoom in on any page right?

They look like Gypsy Moths! That is what they do to our trees and shrubs.They kill everything in ther way..:-(
