andyandy Have you considered changing the dirt ? I have palms 10ft plus that I can pick up. You can a mix it with very little dirt that works really well for palms and saves the back. Well just wanted to try to help you with that. Your question sounds like the soil could be to wet or its a fertilizer problem would be my guess.

It may be that I wasn't watering it enough. I have been trying to keep the soil on the dry side so it would weigh less. It poored last night and we're suppsed to get some sun and 80s. Hopefully that will perk it up. I fertilized it several times this summer so i don't think that's the problem. Moving it sounds like more of a job then it is. I position it over a moving blanket and with one guy on each corner it moves really easy. If it's dieing though I don't want to move it inside just to have it croak in the dead of winter. This was one of the first palms I bought and I had no idea how to care for it. It got infested with mites the first winter (2004). I dragged it on to my front porch and hosed them off. it was about 31-32 out and in the shade. I went inside for 5 minutes and the water froze on the leaves. Almost complete defoliation. I just bought a real healthy one that actually has inflorescence pouches coming out. My hope is now that I know what I'm doing I can get it to flower next sunmmer. In any case I'm very exited about it because It obviously was in Florida until this spring. it has great deep green leaves and a great canopy. It also has a very thick and healthy spear. i assure you it will never get de-foliated like the last one.

I probably have about 25-30 roebellini's in my yard. I never have problems with them. We even had a day last winter where we got some snow and they never got injured. What I have noticed about them is that they dont do very well in pots. I have one that i keep in a pot, and it looks terrible. from my experience they like a lot of water. How cold do you guys get in the winter? If Im not mistaken, they are pretty cold hardy.

We get below zero on some nights. I have no choice but to keep them in pots. I actually looked at this one agian and I think it's fine. All of the emerging fronds are green. It's suppsed to be low-mid 80s here for 5 or 6 days. One last summer blast for my palms pleasures.
