Rick- do you have holes in the bottoms of those cups? What is your watering schedule? Bill

Yes, I drilled a pencil sized hole in the bottom of the cups. I mist the plants and seeds twice a day. Now that the sun has come out, I have them in the sun for 7 hrs. or so. In the early evening, I place clear plastic over them to create a greenhouse effect to help keep the warmth in during the night. I noticed that a lot of condensation builds up. Does this make it too wet or humid for the seedlings? Maybe too much water overall? Have you ever experienced this yellowing in the leaves and will they recover? Any help you can give me is appreciated.

I just put mine outside and water them often. Perhaps you might put half out and continue with the other half and see which grow best. For me , seedlings are very hardy and once they get going they seem to do well

Thanks for the quick responses. When you say you water your seedlings often, do you keep your soil mix wet, damp, or slightly damp? My soil is on the very damp side. I thought I was giving them too much water. I was afraid I was going to rot the roots. Since the sun is out now, I don't want to have them dry out either. Thanks again for your help, I'm really learning a lot reading your posts.

I also had a cupple of my seedlings have white tips on the seed leaves when i removed the shell. I think its just from taking the shell off before the seed was ready. The true leaves should be just fine, mine have all ready came out and are just as green as ever. I water mine let dry a bit water again so on so forth. Like bill said they are prety hardy. Congrats on your new plants hope you get some great new colors!

Yep, that's exactly what I've got. Since it didn't do any harm to your seedlings, hopefully mine will do just fine. I'll take your advice and water, let dry out a bit, and water again. Your have quite the brood of seedlings there, and they appear to be doing well.

Hi, Rick, I've sprouted over 100 seeds. The seeds with the white tips naturally fall off the seedling anyway. The next set of leaves growing on your new seedlings are the true leaves. Hope this helps. Crafty

Rick- Crafty is right on. Those are the cotyledons which supply food to the seed as it starts. the true leaves come next. The cotyledon is a storage reserve of food for the emerging plant and these are epigeal which means they begin photosynthesis for the plant which is taken over by the true leaves. They are just being used up and will drop away and let the true leaves become the plant. No worries. Water more than plants. Fertilize starting with half doses when the true leaves are established. Then they can take spray-n-grow and seaweed extract as a bonus.

Thank you both for the information. Bill, that explanation was very helpful, and Crafty, you've set my mind at ease. I didn't know those leaves would fall off.
Naturally, I would like all of the seeds I'm trying to start (65 seeds) sprout, but if I can get 50% or so to sprout and survive , I'll be happy. Since this is my first attempt, it's a learning experience for me. I can't expect too much.
