My poppies lived right through lower 20 temps and a snowfall. Stop worrying. Even after planting them out, they've done fine. Yeah, I lost a couple sprouts, but the HOS method takes care of that. Mostly, they're the ones around the edges of the hunk. Just leave them out there. Make sure they don't get too warm. You should be able to plant them out in a month. They won't grow much beyond the first leaves unless you fertilize them.

Crepe Myrtles are one of the best things about southern summers! I only have room for two. One variety is Sarah's Favorite (white, large tree) and the other I can't recall the name but it's not as tall but it's very broad and the blooms are fragrant (deep pink) and when blooming, the branches practically touch the ground after a rain. I'll go out there and carefully shake the water off (lol) and I thin it regularly so it doesn't break. I wish I knew what it was. Sarah's favorite is a hybrid so I don't know that it would come true from seed but you never know. I should try both.

Pit, I think it's really going to be "impressing me" when I have to find homes for them all (lol)! But I do love variety. After recieving certain seeds from others (ie Strawflower), I've decided there are some plants I just can't be without. Lisa, Early sprouters definitely helps one "keep the faith"! BBs and Lettuce. Always. And I've decided that Radishes have seedlings that are even cuter than Lupine. Bakemom, Yes, Bachelor Buttons at the top :-) I was shocked that they were my second not first sprouts this year (but I think that was because the Wallflowers were in direct sun and the Bachelor Buttons were in part sun) It was interesting to me that the red BBs were the last to sprout of them. Tiffy, I was truly shocked to find so many new sprouts yesterday. I thought maybe one or two. Not fourteen. Our rain overnight has just turned to snow. I guess the precip is going to be fluctuating all day. I prefer anything but ice! Penny, I still have my flat of Zinnias hiding under the tarp with the grill. I'm not pulling them out until the weather stabilizes a bit. I will literally cry if I lose any. The Maltese Cross is one seed that I did get germination from last year, but I had a few transplant disasters with it (nothing to do with the plant, all with me...and the animals). So I'm really looking forward to having it this year. Well I guess I won't be working outside today...so I'll sow more seeds! Linda

Bill, Yes, I drilled a pencil sized hole in the bottom of the cups. I mist the plants and seeds twice a day. Now that the sun has come out, I have them in the sun for 7 hrs. or so. In the early evening, I place clear plastic over them to create a greenhouse effect to help keep the warmth in during the night. I noticed that a lot of condensation builds up. Does this make it too wet or humid for the seedlings? Maybe too much water overall? Have you ever experienced this yellowing in the leaves and will they recover? Any help you can give me is appreciated. Thanks, Rick
