Depends which coast you're on. For example on the western US coast even in places that never freeze, this palm is impossible to grow. However, on the east coast, where the temps are much warmer overall and the humidity is high, it is doable in the southern tip of Florida.

It's 10a in Madeira Islands off the west coast of Africa, above Canary Islands. I have herd that the Betal Nut is even more tropical in needs than the Coconut. There is Coconut growing in Funchal park gardens. Funchal the capital of Madeira Islands. The 10a I gave guessed, as no info, but winter lows of 16C and summer highs of 30C, I would say it's easy a 10A. ?

I bought 50 Seeds 4 months ogo from an eBay supplier in Belze. Still none have sprouted out. Not sure what happened? Planted all In perlite and kept in dark warm place. The seeds were large, dark creamy color and hairy. Are they all dead now? Is it time to throw them out? I feel abit cheated. Next time, is there a test I can do, to make sure they are ok?

that's my photo I hope you know. Those are dwarf versions of this palm taken at a nursery in Hawaii (Floribunda). If you are going to be using my photos, it would be nice to at least cite me.

I do like the dwarf version of this palm a lot also! I cant help much with the age, but I think they could be over 10 years old.

This palm is just world class. I would like to buy 4 of these. I do have one tiny seedling. I bought 50 seeds and none sprouted yet after 4 months. Must have been a bad batch. I bought them on eBay and came from Belize. No more seeds, from now on I will buy large seedlings only . I don't have a dwarf, and it's my great wish to obtain one. I'm finding that abit hard. In any members got any pics of dwarfs they don't mind sharing, would be real nice?
