Oops! I think it's probably permanant. Maybe you should put the propogator back on the windowsill. If he can't see it he'll have nothing to complain about. lol Maybe you can contact the manufacturer of the window and ask if there's a way to make it white again? Good luck.

Thanks Karyn I was hoping someone might know a remedy.There's no way I'm putting the propogater back! I've tried rubbing white talc( that's like a comedy show)I may put an ornament over it but I'm hoping now the sun can get to the sill it might bleach it back to white.What a pickle these tropicals get us into I'm now trying proteas.If Jim sees the pink sill he'll see red and the only thing I'll be raising will be underneath the daisies!

Hello Wanda662, I'm afraid that's not an option because I think the texture would make it even more obvious than the pink staining.It's not showing signs of fading I'll really have to come up with something ingenious soon or I'm in real trouble. I'll keep you posted - if I'm able.

Hi,
Try soaking area as long as possible (overnight is best)with full-strength denture cleaner. I read that it is recommended for removing deep stains from plastic.

The denture cleaner sounds like a good idea. If that doesn't work maybe a poultice of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide would work? I really wouldn't worry too much, sh*t happens. Just put a pretty potted plant on the window sill to hide it. If that's the worst thing he has to worry about he's lucky : )

Thank you all for your advice. I haven't any denture cleaner but I've just put some whitening tooth paste over the stain and I'm going to leave it on for a while. Your quite right Karyn I really must get things into perspective it's just that I (or rather my plumerias)have sort of taken over.

A)just wondered have you had any luck wth the window cill incident? Did the toothpaste work? Have heard about a product specifically made for cleaning UPVC units, but no idea what or where is is available from....have you tried contacting a UPVC window instaler for advice...worth a try maybe for the sake of the cost of a phonecall?
Your posting prompted me to check my propagator....yes, it too is on one of the lounge cills, we have hardwood frames...all was fine. Told d/h of the problem you had and he assured me he had checked the heat of the bottom of it before allowing me to put it on the cill...something I had never thought to do!!!phew, what a relief!
Hope you can sort it.
B)BTW how are the Proteas coming on, had to do a spot of googling when you mentioned the smoke rings, but know know wht they are! Interesting project..mmmh, youngest daughter is off to Jo'burg to visit her b/friends family in Oct, wonder if she will have room for some S.A.seeds!!?? haha! Will check the regs as usual.

Hello Gill, Thank you for your suggestions. I haven't had any luck with the toothpaste it just put a nice shine over it! Your propogater will be O.K. because wood isn't affected as plastic is I think the problem is that it's not a stain but the actual plastic has reacted with the heat and the change may be permanent.
I do hope you are healing well from your accident. My sister broke her thigh in January and has been very poorly because she already is very immobile due to Parkinsons.At last she is recovering after a bad time. My thoughts are with you. Karyn is right to say there are worse things than a pink window sill.The proteas are now planted but no sign yet. Where on earth will I put them if they germinate?! Give some a try.

Hazel, sounds like the 'pinkness' may well turn out to be a 'feature' as it looks as if it has reacted rather than stained as you point out. Sorry we cant seem to help you at the moment, but I would certainly make a phonecall to a competent UPVC installer. I was concerned with the possibility of discovering condensation under the propagator as we had a leak that took some of the stain off one of the dark mahogany cills a while ago and left a small paler patch...to find a patch of my propagators proportions would have been horrific!
Am lots better now, thank you, pelvic fracture mending and have ditched the walking stick thank goodness, felt like a real old un with it, but couldnt walk without it! Off to hosp next Wed for arm cast removal, hopefully all will be ok and I wont be faced with the operation they mentioned. Will have to take a tad more water with my drinks from now on! What DO you call a drink of water that is watered down?? Failing that, I could avoid the Garden Centre altogether!
