Oh my goodness---I'm in big trouble !!!!1

This morning I said----" there is only one thing I want for mother's day" and without missing a beat he replied--" just wait till I finish my breakfast and I will dig the hole for you"-----

Is is a "Keeper" or what-------I didn't even have to ask--!!!!!! Of course he does know my rose is on its way---I ordered a rambler to climb up the cherry tree ---can't wait !!!!--

I can't believe how beautiful the soil is in the front---which used to be shady and now is VERY sunny--

My neighbor just told Bob he opened a can of worms when he chopped down the three trees---LOL LOL

I'm almost tempted to start digging myself ----- but I have really bad pain today---I think I overdid it yesterday when Robyn was here.

So today will be a day of rest .But oh what a temptation with all that newly acquired sun and the beautiful soil !!!!!

I will try to behave myself--!!!!!!!

Florence I hope you feel better soon. This morning at breakfast my DH asked what I wanted to do today, then said "Oh...I know, you want me to dig!". Yup! I have to move Brother Cadfael today.

1Kgrace345, I kept going back and forth pondering over getting a Presto canner or the All American...I really could have gotten the Presto many years earlier, but I wanted to save my money and just wait. I have two mirro canners that I have had since I was married in 1970 that my grandmother gave to me that she used and they were literally falling apart. The handles were gone, and they no longer had handles to replace them, so I was having to lift the pot by the hot metal...last year I burned my hand really bad...but I kept on canning. I just bought those new gloves made out of well, what ever that is...my brain just backfired...I hate when that happens...darn it. My husband (behind my back) took them both to the dump...that made me really MAD because they were my grandmothers, and I would have like to have kept them for old times sake, anyways. But, he bought me this new one today..and I just about had a flying flip when he said we were going to town to get one...I got ready faster than lighting! I understand how you would still feel like you were a proud parent of your All American, lkgrace!! LOL If my husband wasn't looking at me on the way home I would have petted mine...LOL!!!

I haven't scalped the lawn, just got it shorter in preparation for the aeration. The reason why I'm aerating is because it hasn't been done in a while judging by the soil - the thatch alone after a quick rake was enough to build another lawn from the dead material! The question is more directed towards seeding - Temps have been steadily dropping in the evening and I want to make sure I have the right plan (both financially and logically) before the frost comes. Since seeding after core aeration is a standard practice, I was wondering the best course of action while in a water ban.

I took cuttings from a very large lacecap this afternoon and the leaves were many different colors on the same bush. Some were spring green, others smaller and yellow, some were going red on the edges and some were even starting to get crispy! lol You would think there were three different bushes in the same place - but all from the same roots. I even had two branches with different colored blossoms and those are in a separate pot to see what they do next season. I love the surprises and variations! Not sure what the name is - got lost in transplanting, but it is gorgeous! Photos were taken at different times of the day of the same bush.

Have you ever tried Zappos? Surprisingly, they do have evening / cocktail dresses and their shipping (next day free) and return (365 days no cost) policy is great. I like that I can buy a few items and easily return what doesn't work (even if it's everything). I really like Nordstrom Rack for dresses, but the selection is hit or miss and I usually find more in stores than online. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom are classics of course. I've found cocktail dresses at Revolve Clothing before. Don't worry about the ridiculously tall thin models. It's just the look they cultivate on their site but the clothing is really nice and can fit average figures too. Banana Republic has a decent selection of dresses and it looks like some of them are fun. I hope you'll share what you find!

Isn't it great when our family gets us? Seeing bunches of people snapping up cut flowers at the grocery store, dh said, 'I know you'd rather have real plants than cut flowers.'

Yep, he's right. And the smart man got me a pretty little Japanese Maple to prove it.

We have a few pot ghetto roses to put into the ground, too.

Thanks for all your kind comments-----I sure wish I were a few years younger and Bob didn't have two knee replacements-----We could really tear up that sunny area
but I will try to be content with one hole at a time

Robert---the Rambler I ordered is Super Dorothy----Do you know anything about this rose-?-it is supposed to be hardy and my older sister's name is Dorothy so I thought I would try it.

There are so many ramblers that I would like to try---I wanted Blushing Lucy but it was sold out as was Chevy Chase.

Now I wish I could move my Ghislane de Felgonde out into this area but so far she seems pretty happy back in "Elba" which is rather shady.

I could take cuttings from some of my favorite ramblers but at 78 years I can't waste any time---LOL---no time for the "creep--sleep and leap" idea---LOL

the spot is ready and waiting---I'm so excited --I didn't think I would be getting any new roses this year.

I'll keep you posted.
