here we go season two, thanks smokemaster

so last year i got the garden bug that turned into the pepper bug..this lead to a seed offer from smoke master and here are a few of my one year old plants as well as a picture of this years first hornworm ...by the way smoke he is on a mystery pepper we have yet to ID. hope you all enjoy the pics..we are going to relocate to a bigger space and add about 30 more plants this season..as you can see it is not all peppers but mostly...from smoke master there is redmushroom, minisweets, fishcross, anahiem, fresnos, mystery and few others just starting out..

I don't get it.My red mushrooms always come out like the link below's pic.Never mushroom shaped in 3 years...Same with the yellow ones I have.

Your fish pods resemble true fish pods in shape more than some crosses did.Do they have light and dark lines on the pods?
Some of mine do.

Too early to tell what the mystery pod is.Too many varieties of seeds in my mystery bag.

hey smoke good to hear from you ....the redmushroom is 2plants in a 5gallon container. one is straight peppers and the other as you can see are just so great, a perfect mushroom shape with size to boot.if you would like me to overnight a couple of the mushroom shaped ones this season for seeds no problem.everything i read says they are very hot ...the fish cross are starting to get a few stripes but not much. the mini sweets are our favorite salad peppers.they are so good right off the plant...

what up with the chili powders? whats a guy gotta do to get a sample again?

Never mind the focus, a welcome sight indeed. I had to run out to see if my hellebores were stirring yet and yes :) they are but both my hellebores and snowdrops look to be about 2 weeks behind yours. Thanks again, all you "holics"!! I'm just going to have to toss a coin when I get to the sale, I guess! I think I will really try to get the "Titanic" for sure, because my large barrel of "Sum of All" is just pathetic after the "fake-out" Spring we had. I didn't lose it or count it in my losses but it sure looks bad. I'm thinking to replace SOA with "Titanic", since it is thought to be the best of the sports of S&S! Of course, I will divide it to be sure I have some of it if we have another premature Spring in the next few years. I do have a spot in a raised bed around our deck that will accomodate it, since removing one of my "Francee" and putting "Gunsmoke" in another location! Thank you all, for your great advice! It's hopeless isn't it--there will never be many hosta we will be able to pass up if we have the wherewithal to acquire them!!! janice

When I put plants out that size I just stick them in their final pot and cut the top and bottom out of a can and stick it over them. it allows for quick root growth and only allows full sun when the sun is straight up only. Might keep moisture in the top layer of soil too so plants are a little happier until they grow enough roots to fill the pot. Seems to keep some of the pests away too. Can't do it with bigger plants... Also somewhat acts like putting plastic over your plants on cold nights. Since the top is open the plants don't get cooked like if you use soda bottles with the bottoms cut out for mini greenhouses. Cans with white insides seem to promote branching.I think the white might reflect enough light inside the can. I remove the can after a week or so-whenever the plant starts getting bigger than the can.

I came across a strange little patch of completely and perfectly white bluebells years ago. They were surrounded by the usual blue variety so they really made a statement! I carried an old washtub down there and carefully dug several large clumps to transplant here and after all these years they still haven't spread too much. And yes, they still bloom snow-white. Naturally, I refer to them as my whitebells... Speaking of native blooms, I read that tradescantia (spiderwort) is notoriously hardy and easily propogated but they have been a large disappointment so far for me. Maybe this is because I initially relied on stock that I bought from a dealer instead of simply relocating some from the woods around here. I didn't think I wanted to dig up any of the stuff right here because most things do best right where they are without some human trying to 'improve' things, but maybe I should stick with a strictly local variety. If I dig a few tradescantia plants for my native bed here closer to the house, will they recover soon enough as I have read? And I'm talking about my own property and not just going about willy-nilly digging up stuff all across the county...

People seem to really like the mini sweets.They get even sweeter when the weather warms up from what I hear.
When I grow them it's as a fall/winter crop so I don't really know for sure if heat makes them sweeter or not.

Not all the seeds I have labled as Fish cross were actually crossed.I labled them fish cross because some of the seeds did get crossed.
Also some of them just never got the white and green leaves but were pure seeds from a seed company.They got the striped pointy pods though.
I got tired of people telling me I had crossed seeds when they got plants that had little or no white leaves so I just put them in with my crossed seeds for fish peppers.
The crosses have more rounded pod bottoms than fish peppers do and they have wider tops too.Yours look like fish pods not my crosses.

This year I've got Red and yellow Jamaican hots,mushrooms from 3 different sources and squash peppers growing.One way or another I think I have it covered.

Now I'm wishing I had started the mini sweets I got from smokemaster this year. They didn't make the cut due to space issues.
