Can you help me ID my flower?

Hi,

Yipppee My plumie bloomed! This is a last year inflo, have seen it bloom, is a larger bloom.

Its not pure white. It has very deep rich red stripes on the back bleed into the petal, right side. On the front the red shows through the front of the petal, giving the flower a light red shade.. throat is dark yello orange, edges of flower is red? Can you Id it for me, light fragrance.. only flowers I have..NEAT!"

Some people call it Gardenia which it is not. Some call it Gardena which it may be. Some call it trumpet gardena which is a made up name. Marylyn's plumeria calls it white with red stripe. It is one of the first and last to flower and is very hardy. The smell is a bit spicy but not at all like your Celadine. It is a good grower and produces many inflos as it matures. It also gets seed pods and the seedlings are excellent for grafting stock. It is my oldest plumeria- my first plant. Bill

Great names, I like Gardenia, thanks so much, tried to identify it last year, had no luck. Pleases me it was your first plant! yes, a light warm fragrance. I'm glad to know its a good grower and will put out lots of flowers, that strong. The flower is so perfect, I am very pleased. I have 5 more inflo's growing on that plant, thats un-real for me.

No celedine is very fragrant. Celedine is growing well, leaves are just like leather, thick!!! gads such a healthy one, ha. See an info coming.
appreciate the information. Lots more flowers to watch on that cluster!!

Yes, most of us post pictures from Photobucket.com. You open the free account, upload your pictures there and then copy the HTML code (third one down) that is under the picture. Paste that code into the the message box and your photo appears when you preview the message. Also if you scroll all the way down on the Texas Gallery page there are instructions for posting pictures without the benefit of a photo sharing site. I don't know how to do it, except I know you have to reduce the photo quite a bit. We are interested in seeing the picture of the plant you saw and will be watching for a photo.

Thanks so much for your reply! Someone on another forum was able to ID it as Euphorbia drupifera, and looking at the pics that's definitely it. The leuconeura is very similar to it though - that's a neat plant! Thanks again! :)

Definitely agree with liriope and oleabder I am not sure the 2nd one is texas sage but maybe. Its hard to get a sense of how big the leaves are. Agree azalea is possible for the next. That might explain why it is yellow, because they are hard to grow in most of texas, with the eastern part of the state being the exception. I wouldn't tear up the garden yet, with the exception of the azalea maybe, You might have some perennials in there

I used to have this one. It was the second plumeria I acquired and the first one I rooted myself. The lady who gave me the cuttings would prune it hard to force it to grow upright. It naturally tends to grow into a spreading mound. I was fond of this plant because it was in bloom most of the time. Several of my relatives have this variety because of me, so someday I may have a plant of it again. One of these relatives lives across town from me and their plants of this variety are already well leafed out.

Hi Philip,
I hope you can get this plant, is different. I didn't know it would be a big bloomer, thats fantastic. This plant and the other large one have be drastically cut. Guy who had them, I can see big cuts all the way up to the trunk. Many times on both. Obviously was trying to keep them from growing outward. Yes the white red, as Bill named it Gardena is a outward growing one. Right now I have it at the edge of my patio. It may have to go out into the yard and bloom!!! Hope you can get a cutting. If not, eventually I can send you one.

My cuttings are still there, some pumped up tips. no leaves yet, little discouraged. over a couple months on some. I have one that looked to me to be growing, cat knocked it over, took it out..thought for sure this one was growing roots. nothing! that one kind of took me down.

Karen, thank you for the kind offer. I see my relatives quite a bit, so I get to enjoy their two large plants of this variety on a regular basis. They have kids, large dogs, and a cat, so I suspect a cutting will become available sometime within the next year or so.
