You must not plant too deep. Err by planting slightly too high if the original soil line is not evident.

I'd keep them out of direct sunlight until they show some new growth. Bright shade,skylight. Heat is fine, as long as kept moist. 85F sounds fine.

No fert until new growth, then very little fert, if any.

Whatever you do, be extremely careful with the roots when potting. From your description, it sounds like you are buying them from "palmswholesale".. I have had good experience with that seller. I used cactus mix to pot up my palms when they arrived in April.

All of them have done great except for a Parajubaea that I broke one of the larger roots on.. That one is still on the verge of death (the spear pulled) but I think it is still alive.

Another recommendation I can make is to soak them in water for a few hours before planting them, and to keep them in total shade for the first few weeks while they recover from transplant shock (any sun will burn the leaves)

I got my palms and immediatly planted them. I've had them for a few days now and I water every other or every third day. At first they seemed to be doing very well but as of late 3 of the 4 seedlings have 1 of their 3 fronds turning brown. They only recieve about 6 hours of sunlight and that sun is flitered through a window. Temperature is ideal. Is this just a case of transplant shock or are they dying? Is there any way to tell the difference? (examples: transplant shock just one or two fronds turns brown, dying all fronds turn brown)

Any good tips to help the little guys survive?

6 hours is no where near enough light time. Don't know what the temp is, but for those, needs to be 85 - 90 or higher, which if they are behind a window, I take it there inside. Do you keep your house abouve 80 - 90 degrees? And make sure you do not put them in direct sun for a while.

Probably just transplant shock, however, keep watching them. If you soaked them before planting, then make sure you're not overwatering.

If you have them inside there won't be enough humidity. They should be outside in a shady spot potted in a welldraining soil mix and watered every couple of days. If you are in a dry climate you should mist them several times a day. If it is just a bottom frond going brown, probably nothing to worry about but pay attention to the newest fronds as you don't want them turning brown.

With a healthy plant how long should it be for a new frond to push out?

I think it would depend on your climatic conditions. Palms do not grow that fast. With our 80-90 degree temperatures and 70-90% humidity I would think something like 6-8 weeks but I can't say it is something I have ever timed. Also, just transplanting will slow them down. Don't worry too much about a new frond, although that will indicate the plant is actively growing, but concentrate on providing optimum conditions. Try a Google search for culture of Venezuelan Royals. If they are similar to the Cuban or Florida Royal they are very easy and like high humidity,high light when estabilished and they won't like cold temperatures and low humidity.
