Hey I tried that but my seeds ended up rotting or being cooked than rotted in the muffin tins.
I think it would better without the plastic top, that will let circulation flow over the seeds and soil to help prevent rotting.

I actually found the wet paper towel method to work the quickest and most efficient method for me, most seed germinated in only couple of days with the towel method.

what is the best way to germinate them? i really haven't found any other topic on here that says for sure. not good for a complete newbie lol!

Like Freak said, you may have trouble with rotting. When i have tried it that way, most of them ended up rotting. Also like freak said, try the paper towel method. Always had great success that way. Just wet a paper towel, fold it over, put the seeds between, and put it in a plastic bag. keep the bag open somewhat, and make sure it doesnt dry out. Seeds should germinate in a couple days. Thats how i have done it in the past. Atleast 95% success.

I started a seed yesterday with the paper towel method that hiway 86 suggested- I was wondering if I need to use a seedling heat mat. I placed the ziploc bag on the mat with it open to vent but, I don't know if heat is necessary with this method or if it is going to get to hot. Also can someone clarify if seedlings needs sunlight while germinating either at the point I am at now with no sprouting yet and when I get sprouts. Thanks a lot like stellabella stated there isn't a whole lot of info on germinating seeds.

I use plastic clamshells for a variety of seeds including plumerias. I don't have good results with the paper towel/baggie method. I do like baggies filled with a few inches of moist soil. I keep the bags sealed until they sprout then I keep it held open with a wooden skewer so they don't rot. Once they have a set of true leaves I transplant them. There was someone that made little "boats" out of packing peanuts and floated the seeds in a tray of water. It looked interesting so I decided to try it. Unfortunately I unknowingly used biodegradable packing peanuts. lol I did try again with styrofoam and it worked well but was too much of a hassle for results similar to other methods. I use bottom heat with all methods.

I am trying seed for the first time this year and have been so fortunate that I have had 100% germination. I put mine in a wet(not soggy)paper towel inside a ziplock and place it on top of the frig. After a week I put them in the large plastic blueberry containers with a 50/50 mix of perlite and cactus mix, then I mist to keep moist but not wet. The blueberry containers have a lot of holes for good air circulation, they close and are small enough to move around easily.

There is something really rewarding about growing plumeria from seed. Who here has grown from seed and has made it to flower?

I have about 20 seedlings growing right now. second year for them, but no flowers yet. Still alot of the season left though. I just started mine in seed trays with a vermiculite soil mixture, using a spray bottle to keep them moist.
