I've had them cut back by cold- pretty common. I've never cut into them as the plants themselves as I had said,healed and then shed the shrunken tips. Now,if your talking some kind of ( It is only November should not be any cold damage) bacteria problem...then yes keep removing the rot until you reach healthy stem and let that dry,or put sulphur on it. Also try to cut at an angle that sheds water. Angle cuts also- a pruning lesson here- heal more naturally looking. Straight across does not.

Keith, Thanks! The spanish moss looks good, but I think it's freeze dried. Even the moss in my garage did not pull through (probably from the lack of moisture), but it was alive well into February so it was very close to the light at the end of the tunnel. I'll definitely be replacing it all in the spring. I've noticed that Chamerops pups show more cold tolerance than the mother plant, I still have no idea why. haha. My guess is that it's because they are closer to the ground. Thanks Trishmick! Sounds like you had a good time too! I hope you have luck with germinating the seeds you collected. I collected some loquat seeds from Florida 3 years ago and still haven't tried them. For some reason I never get around to starting seeds even when I have them right in front of me haha. I'm hoping one day to drive to Florida instead of taking a plane so I can bring back some nice seeds and plants! Thanks Bradley! I killed 3 pygmy palms indoors in the past so I know how that feels. I have found them to be the hardest palms to grow indoors which is weird considering that they are considered pretty hardy palms. For now on mine will definitely stay in the garage over the winter. Laura I got your email this morning.Yea it makes me sick everytime I look at it.I planted that palm 11yrs ago this spring,and for years that was the only palm I had.I was so proud that I was growing a pindo,when everybody told me there not suppost to live here.Gary at Gary's Nursery said they dont do well in my zone,if they live at all.He told me Trachycarpus fortunei is the only trunk type palms that should do well here.I told him that everyone I have ever planted died on me from something.They dont do well for me I think because I have no shade or windbreaks,they get shreaded by the wind if they do live,like the one I have now.Gary dident believe me till I sent him a picture of the pindo palm.So you liked that picture of that cycad?They can live for hundreds of years,some more than others.I should post a picture of it on here,because I dont think it's a cycas revoluta,I've seen some that tall but not that robust.Mabey somebody on here could tell me what type of cycad it is,and about how old it is.I've been cutting grass and weed eating all day,so that's why im just now getting back to this post.Thanks everyone for the advise on my pindo palm :)

This was planted about 15 months ago as far as i know, the previous owner planted it and had a professional come every month to groom the plants. I tried all of your suggestions, i gave it a handful of 12-11-18 fertiliser which was the only one i could find with the extra substances needed. I also added epsom salts and extra manganese which am still trying to get off my shoes, so i think that should do the trick. Also i will do deep waterings twice a week now instead of one and also some light watering in between and see how it goes. @Zinepusher, i'll post some more pics for you tomorrow. Cheers!
