I think I might be in Florida!!!!!!!!!!!!

The summer of 2004 was the first time I did anything with palms and it was cool and wet. Last summer was hot and dry. The last two weeks have been the closest to a sub-tropical envirnment we've has since I started. It's been warm and humid. Especially the last three days. The dew point has been prety steady at about 72 with highs in the mid 80s and only falling to the low-mid 70s at night. The next 5 days are supposed to be 90 94 94 96 92 and only falling into the mid 70s. Not quite a Florida July but kind of like a Florida May or October. We don't get this weather often but July has been really great for us up here. It's amazing how palms explode with rain every day and average temperatures about 80. Mother nature please keep it up.

It's hell in Texas. Entire central USA due for above average temps thru end of October.

Which doesn't bother me nearly as much as the severe+ drought and 50% of our avg annual rainfall.

Well Tracy, I just don't understand why so much moving the pebbles in & out. Seems pointless (to me) & too time consuming (I've got abt 200 plants & work fulltime). If one topwaters (even if carefully), one can just water to overflow into the pebbles. Moving the pebbles in & out like that seems too much work & time consuming, I have FAR too many plants for all that time & work. If you're dead set against topwatering (can I pls. ask why?), what abt just topwatering when fertilizing & then just twice a month is really all that's needed. As to fertlizers, if you've just started w/ them, why not use them EXACTLY as directed but only once or twice a month, May thru Oct.? Barring unusual plants (or winter growers), that's really all that's needed. If you're fertilzing sort of weakly, weekly (as many Orchid growers do), I'm doubtful that's a great idea for non-orchids; just my opinion. I'm afraid it will have to come down, and I really don't want to do that if I can help it. ===>>> dont be afraid ... just get rid of it ... if the prior owner leaf you a paisley counter top in puce ... [thats not even a hit with google.. lol] ....would you spend hundreds of dollars 'fixing it .... even if retro was your goal ... i am sure.. in your new house.. you renovated things to your own liking... and you should be doing the same thing.. in the garden ... and.. as i said.. there is nothing to be afraid of .... listen to me.. my first house.. i spent 5 years .. trying to save every nightmare.. for the history of the house ... in year 5.. the light went on.. and i finally got rid of the last nightmare ... hallelujah ... all my problems were gone.. be done with this .. unless you pic makes your words so wrong ... then i might change my mind ... i then spent the nest 5 years.. planting all kinds of my mistakes ... and then moved.. and left them for the next owners ... lol ... trees come.. trees go.. but for the cost.. so what ... time for you to plant your own tree ... and i suggests anywhere but exactly where this one is ... just move over a few feet ... at a minimum ... we can help you select and plant a new tree .. when the time comes ... good luck.. lets see the pix.. ken

I was intrigued by this suggestion of shelf heights. I too am waiting and waiting for my first walk-in pantry ever....only took 50+ years! It will be so awesome to have all this wonderful storage. We're supposed to get one of those cool shots. Right now it's 76 with 91% humidity. We're on our way to 98 and 100 tomorrow. By Thursday our high is supposed to be 77. Unautre-
I'm sorry for the dry conditions. We've had above average rain which is why it's so humid. Last year was warmer but it would still drop into the 60s at night and be comfortable when the sun went down. Not this year, you just get smacked by the humidity the second you walk out of the house.
