I was in tampa last December and was looking for Exotic Plumeria and finally found it after a long drive. Looking at their website, I expected a big nursery but it was small and it was closed and I could not find the entrance of it. Finally someone came out and told us it is closed during winter time and will open in spring and there is nothing inside to look either. When I asked for cuttings he did take us in the back where there were several cuttings just dumped on tables and buckets. I just bought 2 cuttings from them not sure what they are either,he said one is red and one is rainbow color one.

Very nice plumerias. They still look very dormant, but once the warmer weather sets in, they must look really nice!

I'm surprised they're not coming out of dormancy by now. But then, I don't know when this photo was taken.

The above photo was taken March 10th. I was surprised too that hardly any were coming out of dormancy, but Florida was hit with really cold weather this winter. It was interesting seeing how they root cuttings. I saw many rooting in the equivalent of a 4 inch plastic nursery pot. I'd always thought I needed a lot more soil around the cutting, but Alan said to plant about 3 inches deep in good draining soil and wait for roots. He also said that in Virginia this time of the year I'd have better luck rooting under grow lights kept on 24 hours a day. Under his conditions he gets roots in about 6 weeks. His hothouse was close to 80 degrees to jump start blooms. FYI, if you enter the address into a GPS, you might miss it. My GPS had it about 1/4 mile away and on the wrong side of the road. It's on the North side of MLK Blvd. in Seffner, FL.

I live in Tampa and I purchased 90% of my plumerias from Exotic Plumeria. Alan and his staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. I was just there last week just to ask him about growing tips and talk about the harsh winter we had in Florida this year. The place is really unbelievable in May-Sept. Literally thousands of plants blooming at the same time. During blooming season I spend hours just rooming the nursery smelling hundreds of different plumerias.

I was in the Orlando area at the same time and am not that surprised. It was still pretty chilly, especially at night. It was also unuseasonably cold in So. FL for the few weeks that I was there during Jan/Feb.
