I know I've seen pics of it in one of my weed identification guides, but can't find it when I want it. But it is a weed, and I would pull it. I think it's in the mallow family.

By chance did it grow where wild bird feed was fed this year?

I'm so glad you put the pic up. I can't remember how.
I had this plant 3 years ago and thought cool a wild flower a bird poop left me.

Then the 2nd year I had 200 of them. killed most but still loved the anise like dried seed heads.

Then this year around 500+ I had to mow them down and they only come up in my veggie garden about a space 10x20 every year. The flowers are pretty and I'd like to know more in case they are endangered wildflower. I just found 3 new babbies Friday.
Help would be nice.
I've never seen them in the wild and I'm always fishing in the country.

But on another note I Have a new wild flower this year way prettier, let u know next summer how that turns out.

These plants are kind of pretty but they spread very rapidly and the seeds stay viable in the soil for 50 years. I pull every plant I find.

Thanks everyone. I thought I had seen it before, but wasn't sure where. I think I will pull it. It is kind of a pretty weed though.

They wouldn't be so bad if the flowers were bigger. Maybe someone needs to work on that. :-) Along with the Polygonum...

They're so invasive that I pull every single one that pops up, and I like the way they look. I just don't want them taking over the garden space.

That is lambsquarter, Chenopodium album, an edible weed related to spinach. It is one of our favorite early spring greens. I let it seed in the garden and pull sackfulls of it to wash, blanch and freeze. Not everyone likes it, but we like it much better than Poke, that other springtime green, and you can just barely steam it, unlike poke which has to be cooked in a couple changes of water. It has tiny green flowers and produces a LOT of seeds. It can become a nuisance if you aren't careful. I hoe all the remnants of what I pick out, leaving only 3 or 4 plants to go to seed each fall.
