I just got my very first plumeria cutting this year. I have a few questions about how you got your plumeria cutting to root. What kind of soil did you use? How long did it take for yours to root? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

dave in nova: I spray down all the plants in my grow area 2-3 times a week, it was pretty bad before, especially on my papaya trees.

yaslan: my cuttings consist of several bagged branches from Hawaii (these obviously had no leaves), several others I bought locally that were already in 1-gallon pots, some of those had a few leaves, the rest only cuttings staked in the pots. The bare Hawaii branches took between 4-6 weeks to show what you see in the last photo. The top photo is of a Y-shaped 36" cuttings I cut from my aunt's house. She doesn't know what cultivar it is, hopefully somebody on this forum can tell me. This Y cutting took about 9 weeks to be what it is now. The middle photo is of a cutting that came in a 1-gallon pot, had about 4 small leaves when I bought it, 6 weeks later, it is what you see now.

For soil, I use Sta-Green All Purpose potting mix with Aqua-Guard from Lowe's (not the kind with Moisture Max), I mix in anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 perlite. That's it. The main key is temperature. All my plants are under a grow light in a home made enclosure in the garage. I think I could have put them all inside the house and achieve the same results, but my wife would nag me to death, so for domestic peace I relocated the plants to the garage.

Thanks Newgen! Next time I'm @ Lowe's I'll checkout Sta-Green All purpose potting mix. I can't wait til the weather gets a bit warmer too. We had 5 days of sunshine but we're now back to the rain. Though it won't be long before the sun returns. ( :
