Move here. All the HDs carry them.

I have seen them at the lowes around the NYC area. I guess all of them aren't carrying them, but many have been the past few years. People just find more tropical palms more attractive and they are much cheaper! They are likely selling these palms as annuals just like all the flowers they have for sale. The cold hardy palms I have bought from box stores have really disappointed me with their cold tolerance (I think its because of the fertilizer they use) so I dont buy my hardy palms from HD or Lowes anymore.

The HD and Lowes where I live sell Needle palms,Sabal minors,Mediterranean fan palms,and Trachycarpus fortuneis.There all cold hardy here,there pushing it with the green Meds.tho,they will survive with protection and good placement.The HD here also sells Phoenix Sylvestris, Pygmy date palms,Bismarck's and Washingtonia robustas as cold hardy for here,NOT.This year they have tons of Queen palms,Coconut palms and those Pygmy date palms and Sago palms,which also are not cold hardy for here.What doesn't make any since to me is they don't sell Sabal palmettos at all.There are several Landscaping companies selling 20ft Sabal palmettos for $600 dollars installed.Everybody cant afford $600 dollars for one tree,or wont live long enough to see one grow 30ft from seed.If they sold Sabal palmettos as 3 to 15gal.size,I personally know people who are not even palm enthusiast that would buy at least one for there landscape.Another thing that gets me is where I live the are so readily available from Palm Farms in South GA.and South Ala.and North Fla.area,if your willing to take a days drive for a small palm.Another thing is the Landscaping companies selling these 20ft Sabal palmettos want a fortune for a tree that grows like a weed in there native range.There trying to get rich off selling palm trees,that sell for $70 dollars a piece at these farms,at least the Sabal palmettos do.That's a couple of my gripes about this whole palm selling business.

I got a great deal on hardy palms at my Lewes - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Home Depot. Lots of windmills, Mediterranean fans palms and Pindos.

I totally gave up on these stores in my area. I traveled about 30 minutes west to New Jersey and got a beautiful 15 gallon trachy for $29!

Well damn! I would drive 30 minutes for a deal like that!

10 years ago, I had to drive 3 hours to the Virginia Beach area to get my first 3 Trachys. And they were not that size or that price.

If you dont mind me asking, where in NJ did you get a deal like that? That sounds like an amazing price!

Corrados did not carry this year. I found cold hardy palms at lowes or I go to garden centers in central jersey. Excellent prices

California, Corrado's Trachys are big and expensiuve. I get mine on Ebay--either as moderate/large plants or seedlings--they are not that slow. I have four in the ground, a few larger ones in cointainers (both hardy and more tender ones), and about a dozen I got a year ago (eBayt) and all of these already need to be potted up come Spring. into 5 gallon pots.

I have found a place on route 34 in NJ. Their windmill palms range in price from 15 to 50 bucks are are quite large and healthy

Hardypalmfreak not sure where you are but driving west to NJ would gather you are hear in Pa. I'm in the Poconos and the Lowe's in Easton sells hardy palms in the summer and has for the past three years.

HardyPalmFreak, thanks for the info on those palms (sorry my response is a good year late!). Finally getting some good size to my trachys this year. They are now 3 years old (planted March 2009).
