Maybe its just shock from the change of location. I bought this one type of angel wing begonia that was blooming profusely and the flowers just started turning brown and droping, even the newly formed buds. But it's now producing new flowers and its liking its new place. The environment at nurseries is quite different than at home, especially the humidity factor. I just get a humidifier and put the platns together to create a microclimate. Hopefully your begonia is just going some shock. Just keep doing what you are doing, and hopefully in a couple of weeks they'll be blooming anew again. :-)

Ha.. A long time ago I had to just accept them the way they are and pray that I could just keep them alive no matter what they do. That is when they behaved..lol One would have to know their minds to give them exactly what they need, which is something you CAN master with time, to stay green and in bloom with no one ever knowing what your own plants need exactly. I think I have mastered that on a few thus far, thank goodness, by keeping one alive long enough to get to know it. Mike:-)

Temperatures definitely sound okay as long as its somewhat humid (although the tropics do get a little on the dry side this time of the year). Southern Florida usually has night temperatures above 80F during the summer and days in the upper 80s. Hawaii has cool nights all year long and their night temperatures during the summer are actually kind of similar to the night temperatures around my area in the summer with nights in the low 70s (some areas in Hawaii will probably go into the mid 70s and higher elevations are definitely cooler). I wonder if the plumerias in Southern Florida bloom this time of the year because it does get cool there this time of the year and also very dry. One of my plumerias had a little bud drop and night temperatures in the room its in ranges from 55F-65F and day temperatures range from 65F-75F. Definitely a little on the cool side in there, but it does keep the bugs away and the plumerias from growing much. Good luck -Alex

Thanks FrozeBudd. It is a big job moving everything outside for summer and back indoors for winter. My basement runneth over as I try to organize them into their cubby holes just to keep them alive. I still have about 20 extra large pots to move indoors before Monday (our first freeze). The plants get bigger, new plants come in faster than old ones check out, propagation makes things worse as space is limited, and I am another year older. UGH! Amelia blooming, Cowardly Lion (striped rhizo), and it looks like Big Mac (glossy green) Helen Teupel (purple with silver edges) and some unknown silver curl. Flirty Girl (a seedling from Ozzie Johnson who is a member of our begonia club) Jack Black with a cluster of blooms My Special Angel (polka dot cane), Taconite (large dark green leaves), and U450 or U540 (seems like the tag was mislabeled) is the silver leaf with dark veins. rexes from Walmart or Lowe's (Exotic Angel nursery) Proud Mary various begonias I propagated for fun.
