Windmill Palm-Could it still make it

2 years ago I purchased a fairly large "Windmill Palm" that staggered the first year. Made it through a brutal winter completely encased and took off last Summer (grew 13 fronds and about 1.5 ft in height).

I wrapped it similarly this last winter, but used maple leaves instead of cottonwood leaves to insulate in the cylinder. The tarp blew off an snow / rain got in and turned the leaves and the tree leaves to mush. I aerated the entire plant on some warm days in March and April and completely unwrapped the first week of April. All leaves were lost and I had a spear pull; however, the bark, or lower part of the trimmed leaves still have a green to them. It has not completely dried out, and my question is?

Could it still be alive? Has this happened to anyone else.

BTW, we had the coldest winter in 25 years in Detroit. Down to -3 F at our location on 3 separate nights.
