I thank both of you for your suggestions, Both suggestions look like it could be the answer. LOL

I purchased a very distressed property with 4 acres and they are growing in a very over grown deep shade wooded area because of all the sap trees. They were probably planted in the 50s.

I dug them up and have over 40 eyes, have moved them to the garden and will see what they look like in the sun. To be continued....LOL
