i started back in mid december :)

all my seeds are up and working on their second set of leaves. i move them into the laundry room on top of the water heater at night though when it gets cold.

I started about the same time as SNDK. I have a 72 cell covered greenhouse, with a heating pad underneath. I already transplanted my first 4 guinea pig habs, and I'm working on sprouting some Congo Blacks now. Cayennes with a couple hot thais are next with maybe one or two Jalapenos. I'd plant more in there now, but I have 36 cells devoted to Coast Redwood seeds. Their germination rate is like 20%. =(

i have several orange habs fruiting right now, 6 rocoto sprouts just poked above soil level, 18 wialua chiles, 18 hawaiian chiles (i start them in the doz and a half egg cartons) peruvian white habs, carribean red habs, fatallis, and then the ones from the store i planted seeds en masse to see if they grow w/o help: pablano, pasilla, japones.

probably some i am forgetting now. oh red lanterns also.

i'd like to ideally find that perfect pepper, the holy grail of pain, the one i grow from year to year and is my favorite, so i keep growing more and more trying to get flavor on flavor classified. i'm a minimalist by nature and keeping track of so many different things is driving me bonkers.

germinating some habs. a lot of C. pubescens and about 20 differ type of decorative container plants. (short, small, compact,ornamental)

That's me just got my seeds in the propogator, trying out a few new ones for me this year, normally I focus on Habs but I've gone for a few Aji's, a couple of Cayennes, Tabasco, Tepin, a couple of Jals, Rocoto Red, Purple Tiger, Thai Bangkok Upright and some more Orange and Congo Black Habs. Fingers crossed!
I've also shoved a few Tumbling Toms (yellow) for my mum's hanging baskets and a whole bunch of good old Alicante's, all I need to do know is get the Corriander on the go and I'm all set for salsa!

Planted mine in mid December and have already repotted 24. Planted 36 varieties so it should be an interesting year. Also have 4 different peppers from last year sitting in my den by the window. They seem to be doing fine since I have taken 2 peppers from one plant and one pepper from another.

I have had great luck with Red Rocotos regarding germination. I planted 16 seeds and have had 14 come up. I'm not counting out the last two either yet!! This is my first year trying these so I am thankful since many others have deemed this species to be difficult to start. Now...fruiting in Michigan is another story. We'll see.

I can't start yet cause im in Michigan, I have a small 6' x 8'
Greenhouse but stll can't put out plants till mid April. I will be starting my Peppers and Tomatoes soon. I grow around 30 types of peppers, Jalapeno, Cayanne, Ornamentals, Habs, .
I read about Peat being bad anyone else hear or read that?

I'll be starting my seeds in a couple of weeks. I'll be planting Dulcetta, Demre, Canyenne, Tepin, Jalapenos, and going to try Habanero White Bullet and Jwala's something I've never tried before. I found a little seed catalog a couple of years ago that has a large variety of hot pepper seeds in it. I'm getting ready to plant out on Jan 30. I started back in December with seeds from tsg. I had good germination results. If I can get my wife to show me how to post a pic I'll do so. Suffice to say, I have 64 plants ready for the garden soil, they've been hardened off (hopefully we don't get really bad March weather, )and I'll be 10 days earlier than last year. It's been hard not to plant out early due to the winter in my zone this year, pickapackofpeppers is the closest person to my area.

I am new to this forum although I have been around gardenweb for a few years...I have just sprouted my pepperchinos about half has germinated...I plan on starting bell and jal soon....I have 7 varieties of tomatos and planting another flat of Mortgage lifter real soon...my tomatoes that are started are on their second leaves and will be repotting them next weekend...those I planted on dec 17-25. I have a tiny 6x4 GH which I keep them in during the days, but most nights I have to bring them in...hopfully I wont have to worry about that in a few more weeks...

I will start a few in mid february here to plant after May 12th...just some Thai Hot and Habenero since I will be doing 100 peppers and 100 tomatoes as well ( 3 different types each)plus 4 different everlasting/cut flowers crops as my assingment in my 2nd year greenhouse management class. The greenhouse pepper/tomato crops I've scheduled to start April to be sold in 4 packs by week of May 7th...I know I'll be buying a few of these at $1.00 a 4 pack!! One of the pepper crops is Sweet Rainbow that I'll buy for sure as I've never grew or ate sweet peppers before...sounds good!!

I'm trying an indoor garden so time of the year isn't as big of a problem for me. I started both hot peppers and tomatoes, some in December, some in early January, and some seeds I planted just yesterday.

Hot Peppers: Poblano Ranchero, Fooled You Jalapeno and Numex Big Jim were all started in late December/early January and are growing slowly compared to my tomatoes. I'm sure that's normal since my tomatoes are growing like weeds. I knocked my Jalapeno seedling onto the floor (about 3 ft.). If I had more room I'd start another but I doubt I'll have enough room as it is. I'd hate to have to throw something away. Yesterday I started a mystery variety that changes from cream or purple to orange then red. I received it in a trade. It's supposedly very hot.

Tomatoes: Heidi is already between 11-12", Peasant is almost as tall. Silvery Fir Tree and Martino's Roma are around 6" and need transplanting today. Czech's Bush is close behind them. Grushovka is a weakling and since I don't have room for everything it may have to go, one way or another. And I planted New Big Dwarf yesterday.

I'm looking forward to seeing how all these do under lights. I'm using flourescents above the plants and compact flourescents on the sides. So far so good during the vegetative stage. Getting hot peppers and tomatoes from them will be the challenging part of this experiment.

Just started 50 types of peppers, some seeds from John Fiedler, some from eBay and other places. Habs, jalapenos, cayanne, ornamentals, sweets,tobasco, alot of mixes, I like not know what will come up. Using 4ea 72cell flats with Humidity domes and heat mats. Tomatoes will start once Peppers have germinated. Will transplant to 6" post when they are ready, Will sell some and some will be gifts. Have a 6' X 8'
Harbor Freight Greenhouse placed on 12" raised beds. Spinach and Lettuce has wintered over even though no heat.
Planted Mesclun Mix in the Greenhouse 1-21-2006 and more will be planted 2-4-2006.

With all this warm weather, not only have I started some seeds inside, but I've also transplanted some poblano and mini-bell seedlings outside. We'll see how well things go.

Started some habs last week. I know it's really early for here, but I am going to try growing a few under lights until I can set them out in pots. Last year I waited til beginning of March and the pods were just getting going when it froze.
