Hot Pepper Wax

Hi has anybody used Hot Pepper Wax or Spray on there plants? if so does it work for spider mite prevention and extermination? also i have a Key Lime Tree, Miracle berry Tree, Black Pepper vine, Vanilla vine and Cavand. Banana, would it hurt any of them?

never heard of the wax. i do use some of my old powder around the plants to keep the for legged pest out of the graden when i first plant. does work except it brings the birds in and i lose one or two plants from them cliping it off

If you find root maggots...yeah there goners, but you can prevent them if you do a fall crop by covering the plants with remay cloth. You have to remember to leave enough space over the plants with the remay for them to grow but the remay will prevent the fly from laying its eggs. You can hold the remay down with stones or good size rocks or some how make like a cage over the plants and making sure all sides and top are covered with the remay. I have never heard of it, but we do mix a hot pepper spray to control animals and insects in the vegetable garden. Bobby usually makes a horrendous mess in the kitchen, leaving it to me to clean up, lol. He takes several HOT peppers, and throws them in the food processor to liquify. Strain, reserving liquid. Pour the pepper 'juice' in a bucket, add water and a few drops of liquid dish detergent. Pour into the sprayer and spray everything. Rain will wash it off, but it is easy to re-spray, if you need it. This is very effective. I would worry about my plants with the wax on them. Also, I am not sure what our heat would do to this product. Might be a mess, and might not work for me who does not like hot peppers! Very interesting, thanks! Janie

Several GWer's mentioned the Hot Pepper Wax Spray, being it's organic.. and I just picked some up today at Willow Tree here in St Pete... she got in a case of it so has more there... I also got the last Dill plant and she put several cats on it to bring home, I also picked up Fennel, and several other Butterfly plants.... I'm going to see how the Hot Pepper Spray works on the chili-thrips on my pink Knock-out roses ( also on Belinda's Dream, they seem to like pink !).... sally
