How long do cut amaryllis flowers last in a vase?
Comments (6)I don't remember the cost, Maria--just more than I'd pay for cut flowers. The one I cut is a four-year-old bulb I have that blooms reliably every year, despite the neglect it receives from me. It was a gift. Everyone gives me red amaryllises, even tho I ask for other colors, because I am sick of red after Christmas. I cut this after I posted and put it in a vase as part of a Valentine display. I love it--just hope it lasts at least a week. Thank your for the tip about changing the water every day--will do....See MoreHow long do Iris blooms last in arrangements?
Comments (3)That is a Tall Bearded iris. What its' name is I do not know. The most common iris in arrangements are Dutch Iris. Florists don't really like Tall bearded iris for two reasons. 1. They don't last very long individually. 2. They tend to bleed color, sometimes staining valuable table cloths etc. We always have Tall Bearded Iris on our table during bloom season because we enjoy the bloom and fragrance. We just address the stain issue by not putting them where they might stain something....See MoreHow long do flowers last?
Comments (1)On the plant? As a cut flower? Depends on weather lower temperatures flowers generally last longer but that depends on cultivar. When the temperatures are above 70F and winds blowing I have had a plant bloom in the morning and have only one petal left when I got home from work. I have also had a bloom last two weeks during a cool misty period. I consider myself lucky if the blooms on any plant last longer than a week. Thats why peonies and other flowers are there to treasure, the sight and smell and to provide something to hold in our mind to know beauty will be there even if we aren't. Spring and the next flowering season will be here before we know it....See MoreHow long do Epiphyllum cuttings last for?
Comments (8)I can't tell for sure, obviously. But whatever is it it's not good for a plant. Any insect or disease needs to be taken care of. It looks like a mealy bugs, the white cottony mass is usually sign of them. Try wiping the leaves with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol, or a q-tip. Try shaking the piece over sheet of paper & see if any tiny 'things' fall on it - spider mites are very small, sometimes you can find them this way. Spider mites make webs too, slightly different than mealy bugs. Using insecticidal soap/spray or neem oil should help to get rid of them....See Morecovella
