Palm Bob,esteemed palm expert, posted photos of R.rivularis that had fronds toasted at 25-29F in last years freeze in SouCal. Those were large trunking palms. He later posted pics of them regreening in summer. They key Bear,is too get them into the winter as healthy as possible.So they handle the loss of a few fronds in a valley winter. With your heat,they will come back fast. A palm to not let your emitters clog or sprinklers miss, in that 90-100f degree heat. And Fertilize..compost eaters they are..even steer manure is handled well when tossed..within reason.
As an aside, mine here in the bay area gets better every year on slower growth. The only problem with Majestys is that they seem much more prone to fungal problems.Just remember, they out grow and survive them most of the time.

My neighbor had one planted out in his yard under a huge oak tree. It survived into the first part of November, but finally died after an early morning low of 22F. I think it was able to handle such low temps because it received some frost protection from the oak tree it was planted under.

Mine completely fell apart after a low of 22 degrees in December. It just collapsed. Granted it wasn't very big and was a Home Depot special that I stuck in the ground in April. It handled a few minor frosts before that with just a little tip burn.

Yes krayziecr, that's the same thing that happened to my neighbor's palm. All of the leaves just fell. Kind of strange.

I had to that folded up at 28. and the stump turned to mush.

So heres the updated pic. I cleaned up the palm by trimming away the dried parts of the fronds and now it looks MUCH MUCH MUCH cleaner. Here they are. Since they are fast growers, i am hoping to get enough growth to make up for the loss of foliage in the winter.

That's a VERY good looking first frond for April,J. Your's in a little over a year has caught mine going into its third summer outdoors. Warm helps!
Toss some fert on it now to boost..it's growing.
