Exccuuuuuseee me? Are you the same people who had from 4 to 6 to 10 or 11 inches of rain while I had a measley 2.5" and Anna got practically none? Now you want more rain???? Are you greedy or something???? I'm just kidding. Our rain only comes in two amounts here....too much and too little.

I'll send y'all the rain when I'm through with it.

Actually, a lot of it is east of us, which is why I think Anna may get another good rain today. Some of it is to our west. Very little is falling here, but I'm surrounded by it so some of it HAS to fall on us sooner or later. Or not.

I just carried a big bucket of peach peel and peach pits out to the compost pile and it hasn't rained enough yet for the ground to even look wet. Bummer. However, the thunder is really loud to our east and I hope that storm drifts our way. Otherwise, we'll have to accuse Anna of hogging all the rain over there in southeastern OK.

The temperature on our back porch is a cool 78 degrees!

You'll notice I didn't ask for any.... I'm still using up rainbarrel water and I'm not saying that to brag..believe me. I fear EB is breathing down my neck.

The only things I've watered in two weeks are the hydrangeas on the north side of the house. They were just planted at the end of summer last year so they're not yet as well established as the one in front which I planted two years ago. Add to that, one is getting a bit more afternoon sun than it would like. After the six inches of rain that fell two weekends ago I won't complain about lack of rain, but that 78 degrees would sure be nice! I spend five minutes picking strawberries and come back in with sweat running down on my glasses. Blech!

I've been worried about your tomatoes and EB because you've had so much rain and then, of course, the high humidity ever since.

Try not to envy our rainfall here....we have had, officially so far today, 2/100s of an inch. Apparently someone east of us got the rain meant for us.

You have my sympathy. The other day, our DS stopped by rather unexpectedly and I hadn't harvested in a couple of days because I've been busy making jelly. So, DH, DS and I went out to the garden at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon when the heat index was in the triple digits and picked tomatoes and peppers for him to take to work. It was ridiculously hot. With all three of us out there harvesting, it didn't take but a few minutes and then we all came back inside soaking wet and exhausted. I felt like I'd been out there for hours instead of minutes.

In general, I've been trying to get outside to do whatever I need to do right around or just before sunrise. Until all the fruit is harvested and processed, though, the veggies aren't getting much attention at all.

I'm still hoping for some real rain, but I don't think it will happen this evening.

Still, even without much rain, the general cooldown in the air is heavenly. You can walk outside without feeling like you're going to melt.

I saw the radar picture this morning, and crossed my fingers for you. To bad, it wasn't more.

I had my umbrella up while I dug out some more bermuda grass.

Things are getting dry here, even so we had 11+ inches last week Monday. But then I guess, that's just about two weeks ago...

Oh gosh - it's either feast or famine it seems. First in May we had bucket loads of rain and it totally saturated everything and everyone. Now it's June and we're on at least our 7th straight day of heat warnings/excessive heat advisories with triple digit heat indexes (104 right now - uggh) I've been watering all my flowers every morning -and I have a bunch of them - gosh I want/need an irrigation system! My veggie garden is a goner. It wasn't very big to begin with but between the squash vine borers and the weird/whatever it is that is going on with my tomatoes, I just threw my hands up for this year. On a positive note, some super 100 cherries that had been planted two years ago are coming up and I'm just letting them grow. They are healthy, flowering, and producing - and growing right next to my basil - how convenient!

Butterfly gardening is going exceptionally well so that's at least one thing I can look forward to. I have 22 black swallowtail larvae right now (in captivity) and many many more in the garden. A tiger swallowtail has been visiting, along with many other species. So that's at least shining a bit of a bright spot on this otherwise difficult gardening year.

I keep compulsively checking weather.com. We went from a 40% chance of rain at 4pm to 10%. Nothing promising in the next 10 days. It looks like a lot of watering for me. I cannot believe I complained about the rain.

We've got a 30% chance here for tonite. DH just called (he's out working in this heat) and said he can see thunderheads building. I think he has heat stroke. ha!

Seriously, there ARE showers forming around Lawton and they're moving ever so slowly NE. Maybe? just maybe...

Moni, I wasn't gloating, I swear, just enjoying the brief, unexpected cool temps even though the rain mostly missed us.

Laura, At least the butterfly garden is working out well this year.....and you'll soon have all the Supersweet 100s you can eat. In a year like this, you've got to look hard sometimes to find the positives! It is a good swallowtail year....we've had them all over the parsley we plant just for them for about a month now. I'm seeing more monarchs too than last year.

Joellen, It's too late to take it back! Let's hope (and this is sort of a pitiful and sad kind of hope) Tropical Storm Alex blows into the Gulf of Mexico next week and sends moisture our way, either through Mexico or Texas (we'll take it however we can get it, won't we?). I'm not especially hoping Alex will intensify and reach Hurricane status, but would certainly appreciate it if he'd send us some rain.

Paula, I cannot believe Ken is out working in this heat! Of course, it isn't like he has a choice about it. Still, the heat is brutal and I hope he doesn't have heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Maybe he's seeing mirages in the sky that look like thunderheads?

It is so cruel to have showers pop up here and there and then miss us all. I long for one of those wonderful days where the rain pours down all over the state all at once so everyone is happy the same day!

Y'all hang on. A cool front, a chance of showers and better weather is just a couple of days away. It isn't much, but for late June, it's about the most we can hope for.

We got a brief shower this afternoon but there looked to be a fairly good storm to our north so those in Poteau - Fort Smith, or somewhere in between there, got a decent rain.

At least it's cooler! We've only been in the 90s for a couple of days and forecast for more of the same. It's like fall!

I was in Tulsa, at my friend Judy's house. Today was the Master Gardeners garden tour (well, it is on for tomorrow too). It wasn't as bad as anticipated. Came home about an hour ago. No matter the temp, I am beat.

Just darn glad, that Judy has as many trees as she does. Her yard looked sooooooooo good.

Joellen, I don't know who you're using, but I always use the NWS - it shows good chances (40 - 80%) of rain all today, tonight, through Monday. I'm across the river a bit from you - 81st and Sheridan area - and we got a small rainfall this morning. Wish it would have been more, but hey, I'll take what I can get and I'm LOVING the cloudy sky and breeze this morning!

Hubby just informed me he watered *everything this morning. I said "Good! That's why it's raining. Do it again so it will rain harder and longer!" LOL!

Laura, thanks for the site. We also got a small rain (maybe 1/4"-1/2"), all while weather.com said 15% chance of showers. LOL. I am just giddy that it rained at all.
