Oklahoma Drought Monitor Map 6/5/2012

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

Here's the Oklahoma portion of this week's edition of the U.S. Drought Monitor Map.

This map reflects data received as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, so any rain that has fallen since that time will be reflected on next week's map.

Remember that it takes more than a couple of inches of rain deficit to have enough drought development to get any county onto this map in the first place and it usually takes more than a couple of inches to get a county moved back to a lower drought category or to get it off the map altogether.

Map data is based on official rainfall recorded in a county, so if you've had locally heavy rainfall at your own place that was not received at the official recording stations, then you may not see a change in your county's status on this map.

There's not much change on this week's map, but with the continued rainfall this week, we may see more change on next week's map. In fact, some areas moved into a higher, not lower, drought category on this map than they were in last week. Let's hope those areas are getting rain this week.
