Some Ozarks Fall Color: VERY Picture Heavy
Comments (44)My turn... with Ark's blessing I'm going to post some fall pics taken in Fort Smith yesterday. Unfortunately, the trees peaked 2-3 days before I could get the camera out and most trees lost a LOT of color, especially the sugar maples. Some pics were taken at my house, some on the side of the road and some just off the road in town. Let's start with sugar maple pics: Acer saccharum By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 Liriodendron tulipifera By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 Prunus spp By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 By jp_42_82 at 2011-11-10 The camera really did not do justice to the last two pics above. Comments (44)Hi Jeff, Steve Bost contacted me in the late fall and sent me seeds in December. You have to be patient. This is not his day job. He won't send seeds in the mail while the temps are freezing and you might have missed the window of opportunity for those this year anyway. They need to be cold stratified for a number of months before they break dormancy. Mine have been in the frig since December. They still show no signs of sprouting but given the weather conditions this year, that is okay if they take their time. I do not know if their foundation offers plants in the spring. That might be your best bet now if they do. Margie...See MoreReforest the Ozarks: Cheap Trees, Free Mulch!!!
Comments (3)Oakleif, The state line isn't going change a lot of the plants you can select from. You can go to the Grow Native website for lots of info and apply it where you find suitable for your own landscape. :) Here is a link that might be useful: Grow Native...See MoreMissourian Location thread filled up!!
