You would probably get more answers if you posted this separately, but I'll try to help if I can. First, you need to figure out why the leaves are turning yellow and brown. Peace lilies don't like constant wet soil, or dry soil, you have th find a happy medium since this plant like evenly semi moist soil at all times. A couple things to keep in mind. The pot should only be an inch larger than the root-ball, they like to be snug in their pot like many indoor plant do. Need for a good draining soil is essential. I like to add "Perlite" to the soil which helps with drainage. It can be found at any of the box stores like Lowe's. The leaves can burn in direct sun, keep it where it gets bright light, but no direct hot sun. When the top inch of the soil starts to feel close to dry, water the soil thoroughly spilling out any excess water out of the saucer. I'm probably not any help but it looks like the first Canna I ever saw and started my love of Canna. It grew in the back yard of a house I bought 20 years ago. Mine turned out to be Cleopatra, but the red on yours is more runny. Mine the red is more of a once in awhile fully red pedal. Your picture doesn't show the leaves or seed pods. The picture at San Marcos also shows the spent blooms which are pale as shown. The spent blooms on yours seems to hold their color. The once in awhile leaf with broad maroon stripes on Cleopatra is a good tell too, but only happens once in awhile as they state. It is an Iresine, I. herbstii, and it can be a herbaceous perennial shrub where it doesn't freeze, and at least here in coastal California, it will also do well in full sun. I also have a yellow leafed form of this plant that is even more vigorous, which has pink tinged stems. As you say, it is very easy to root in water indoors for the winter, and treat it like a Coleus. They both will actually tolerate a bit of light frost here in Berkeley, but at about 30F they do defoliate for me. The form you show in your photo is not quite as shrubby, there is another similar plant that has thicker stems and larger leaves that can easily get 5 to 6 feet tall in a couple of year's time. They're useful as indoor foliage plants for a sunny spot as well as outdoors.

AuntJen, I agree that differing opinions can definitely work in a marriage, but it depends on what those differences are. Politics is one thing I could see people having lovely discussions regarding their differences. Religion too - to some degree. Money - way differing opinions on this one I see a major issue in a marriage. If one person is a crazy spender, and the other not - even having separate accounts can't bridge this over the years. I also think if you don't have kids, you are much more accommodating of others individual preferences, beliefs etc. But once you throw in a few kids, things change. Religion is a biggie especially between Jews and Christians. There's some real fundamental differences here - how do you raise your children to appreciate both religions? I would find this very confusing to children - you have to pick one at the primary and then perhaps expose them to the other religion and allow them to choose when they're older. I too believe marriage is much more than just sex and having a good time with someone. If you don't have some core values shared between you, it makes what is already a difficult partnership over time even harder. Add a few children and all of a sudden life is alot more difficult and you start to wonder - what did I see in this guy?
