An 'Old' Gardener's Web site

Sedum37 was among the first to let me know that my gardening Web site was mentioned in last Sunday's Boston Globe Magazine.

Having been interviewed at length for the article this past June, I was pleased that someone would find my avocation and passion for "all things gardening" of interest. It is fun to share information, and in so doing, learn something new. However, being a newspaper columnist in my "real life," I did not hold my breath, knowing that there are so many factors involved in the final product.

As I mentioned to Sue, like a garden the site will never be "done" and will always need improvement. Alas, there is never enough time to spend on it....

Yes, I'm still hearing from family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. It seems the highlight of the blurb was my age (LOL)! Who knew that an old lady could have a Web site!

All kidding aside, I am appreciative and thankful. The reality is that I could never have done any of it without the help of my son. Ah, youth!

Speaking of thankful, I better get going and do some updating on the site by removing all the references to Thanksgiving. I'll be hearing from my grandson!

Good job! I wonder why they didn't mention the age of the "retired librarian" in the next paragraph... or are librarians more secretive than gardeners....

Perhaps this is the problem to which GW has been referring repeatedly w/ advisories up at the top? In the meantime, when done w/ a discussion, rather than hitting the back button, try scrolling all the way down to where it offers something like "Return to the Houseplant Forum" & click on that. Same result, different manner of getting there.

Thanks haname: Urban Farm, Matt Suhr and Greg Peterson calendar is the one I have been using. Both calendars are close and yes lets grow veggies site is limited in the vegetables but has a weekly to do list. I know from my garden this year - came out bad, but still working on the soil, city of Maricopa and 11 miles to where I live (Hidden Valley) is alot different in temps and rain fall. I guess I need to learn to work with in my own mini enviroment and keep trying to see what works for me in the garden.I have gotten alot of good info from this site.

You will get used to it. We all hated it at first. Garden Web has always been all about the money. We have been inundated with advertizing all along, and nobody likes change. I'm not sure, but I think they found it to their advantage to sell out to Houzz! Houzz is very photo friendly, and it's a lot easier to post photos under their system, but we still get to post and comment as before. I was a previous member of Houzz (Got many ideas from the house designers who post there), so I got to keep my name. All the same great information is now hosted by Houzz.
