My sad, sad lawn....and my plan...please advise..

Hello,

With the help of all the wise and friendly folks here at Garden Web, I've been teaching myself to garden. I'm composting, creating and amending flower beds, winter sowing and growing some vegetables. But I can't ignore it any longer - my grass is sad and neglected.

The grass is fine in some areas, thin and patchy in spots, and almost invisible in others. I've got some crab grass, some clover, some dandelions (which I pull by hand). And some Grubs have moved in....

After reading the FAQ and a variety of posts, here is my plan....please give any suggestions or criticisms as necessary.

1. Top dress with compost as soon as I can

2. Apply Corn Gluten soon after as a preemergent

3. Spread SBM or Alfalfa pellets (depending on what I can find at what price) after that

4. Get some nematodes on before the end of June (can that be done any time or should I wait until the end of June?)

5. Water deeply once a week

6. Mow high

7. Overseed (slit seed?) in the fall
