Tornado Watch for Western OK through 10 pm

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the panhandle counties and the most western-most Oklahoma counties. It will be in effect until 10 p.m. this evening. You can check the map on the link below to see if your county is included in the watch area. As the front progresses, other counties may have some types of severe weather watches or warning.

Tornadoes are already occurring in Colorado today and a tornado warning was just issued for the Denver area, and I believe Kansas is in the bullseye as well.

Conditions are right for scattered thunderstorms and some may contain hail, high winds or tornadoes. Garden accordingly.

Thanks, Dawn. Our daughter is here visiting from Seattle and she LOVES thunderstorms. She always puts in a special order for them while she's here, lol. She was here last year on February 11 when we had tornadoes.

You're welcome. I always try to post weather watches and warnings here if I'm aware of them....most of us spend more time here than we do at the NWS website.

I hope your daughter's having fun. Tell her we ordered up this severe weather just to make her happy. lol

Hi Dawn! I watched the news reports tonite and thought of you also. We had LOUD rumbling thunder all evening here, but now it's much quieter. We got a short spell of rain with thankfully none of the hail that they warned about. However, DH has grudgingly admitted that the rain was enough to make the sod removal of the new garden space more difficult. He's got 1/3 of the 35' by 65' space cleared! And me...well, I'm going right in behind figuring up just how much I can plant in there...and how much mulch it's going to take to keep it clear. Stay safe but I think the worst is over. Paula

There are a couple of authentic sounding thunderstorm CDS out there. Turn out the lights, get the house cold, and crank up the volume.

She's at the Festival of the Arts in downtown OKC right now, which is almost guaranteed to bring storms, lol. As much as she's hoping for them, we're hoping that they bypass us this time so this ground can dry out and they can get back to work on that building. Maybe she'll settle for those authentic thunderstorm CDs this time :).
